The Spanish Congress has approved a motion formally demanding that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez submit to a vote of confidence and resign to assume political responsibility for the corruption cases affecting the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party). The initiative, promoted by the People's Party (PP), passed thanks to the votes of Vox and Junts (Together for Catalonia), highlighting the parliamentary weakness of the coalition bloc formed by the PSOE and Sumar (United Socialist Party) following the recent court ruling against former minister José Luis Ábalos.

Although the vote has no legally binding effect, the result underscores the loss of the parliamentary majority that supported the Prime Minister's investiture. The Lower House has endorsed the motion with 178 votes in favor and 171 against, in a session marked by the stance of the pro-independence party Junts, whose vote proved crucial in defeating the government's position in the chamber.
