We know how eating excess carbohydrates, including grains and sugar, affects the body because we nurture these effects in the animals we eat, says physician and carnivore-diet champion Dr. Anthony Chaffee.

“It’s called marbling. We give cows and sheep grains and high sugar diets” to improve their taste, he says.

In humans, it’s diagnosed as “myosteatosis—which is infiltration of fat into the muscle bodies in a person … and that’s associated with metabolic dysfunction, chronic pain, and other disease,” Chaffee says

Chaffee joins “Vital Signs with Brendon Fallon” to discuss the cancer-fighting potential of carnivore diets.

“You inject glucose into someone, and then you see where that goes—those cancer cells light up like a Christmas tree every time someone with cancer eats carbohydrates,” he says.

Conversely, eating a carnivore diet is a way to switch the body’s cells from running on glucose to running on ketones, which cancer cells cannot use.

On “Vital Signs,” Chaffee outlines a simple diet plan for preventing and even managing cancer, and highlights how such diets have benefited brain cancer patients.
