Inauguré en 2012, ce musée est intégré à un parc archéologique soi celui des ruines mayas de San Miguelito.
Le Musée expose l'une des collections les plus importantes du pays avec ses 3 500 objets découverts dans le Quintana Roo, ainsi que des pièces de sites plus lointains, comme Palenque, Chichén Itzá, ou Comalcalco.

Juste derrière le musée se trouve un sentier qui rejoint la zone archéologique de San Miguelito qui offre une belle introduction au monde maya et un petit bout de jungle au milieu du bruit et de l'agitation de la zone hôtelière.

Une quarantaine d'édifices y ont été découverts, dont quatorze sont ouverts au public, comme une petite pyramide et un palais à colonnes.

TOUR OF THE MAYAN MUSEUM IN CANCUN AND THE SAN MIGUELITO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Inaugurated in 2012, this museum is integrated into an archaeological park, that of the Mayan ruins of San Miguelito.
The Museum exhibits one of the most important collections in the country with its 3,500 objects discovered in Quintana Roo, as well as pieces from more distant sites, such as Palenque, Chichén Itzá, or Comalcalco.

Just behind the museum is a trail that joins the archaeological zone of San Miguelito which offers a nice introduction to the Mayan world and a little piece of jungle amidst the noise and bustle of the hotel zone.

Forty buildings have been discovered there, fourteen of which are open to the public, such as a small pyramid and a palace with columns.
