So this case was a great opportunity to serve a patient with our CEREC technology.
This is how we came into the office. He hadn't been seen by the dentist in more than 30 years.
Tooth number seven was causing him quite a bit of pain and he wanted it extracted and had actually
thought about getting a full set of dentures. Well I talked him into a better alternative,
a permanent bridge placement, placed at the same time as the tooth came out. So here you see images
of the bridge preparation, imaged with the CEREC Omnicam. This is the initial bridge design
in the CEREC 4.4 software. Once we designed the bridge we sent it to the MCXL milling unit,
which you see milling here, and milled it with a lithium disilicate 32 millimeter
block. The bridge was then crystallized in the oven that you see here and this is the final
bridge restoration. You can see some post mill processing that we put with diamond burr and
characterization with the stain and polish. There's no glaze on this bridge, only polish.
So this is immediately after the tooth was extracted and the bridge was delivered.
You can see a little bit of blood there around the gingival number seven.
I designed the pontic with a bullet shape so that it would hopefully support that tissue,
allowing a more aesthetic and natural outcome long term. What a great opportunity to serve
this gentleman. We really rescued his smile and provided him a sense of confidence. He
works with the public on a daily basis and this was a great opportunity to give him his smile back.
