RÉGION DE LA CAPPADOCE EN TURQUIE
La Cappadoce est une région historique de Turquie située au centre de celle-ci.
Elle fut pendant l'Antiquité une partie des empires perse, macédonien ainsi qu'un royaume indépendant avant de devenir une province romaine. Convertie au christianisme, elle acquiert un riche patrimoine religieux caractérisé par l'architecture troglodytique creusée dans la roche volcanique. Une communauté chrétienne orthodoxe s'est maintenue de la conquête turque au xie siècle jusqu'aux échanges de population du xxe siècle.

Les Perses l'appellent Katpatuka ce qui a été interprété comme signifiant « pays des chevaux de race » ou selon une autre hypothèse dérivé du mot Katpatuka en « pays des plaines d'en bas ».

CAPPADOCIA REGION IN TÜRKIYE
Cappadocia is a historic region of Turkey located in the center of it.
During Antiquity, it was part of the Persian and Macedonian empires as well as an independent kingdom before becoming a Roman province. Converted to Christianity, it acquired a rich religious heritage characterized by the troglodyte architecture dug into the volcanic rock. An Orthodox Christian community was maintained from the Turkish conquest in the 11th century until the population exchanges of the 20th century.

The Persians call it Katpatuka which has been interpreted to mean "land of thoroughbred horses" or according to another hypothesis derived from the word Katpatuka in "land of the lower plains".
