Counting in mind is easy for adults but it is not the same when it comes to kids, it is a little bit difficult and that's when they use some kind of assistance, such as counting on their hands and toes or else counting with using their toys and other objects in front of them.

There is nothing to teach the kids how to count on their fingers and toes because there is nothing hard about the process, the only thing they should be keeping in mind is to count in the right order and at the same time understand that they could only count to 20 - 10 on the fingers and 10 on the toes - but nothing more than that.

Parents and teachers should be paying attention to how the kids are counting, are they counting correctly and in the right order, are they paying attention to their counting skills? This is important because sometimes the kids might lose themselves and forget about a number in the middle of the process.

One of the things that kids should know about since it helps them to count correctly is to understand that their fingers will only accept the first 10 numbers (from 1 to 10) and their toes will take the 10 numbers coming after them (from 10 to 20). This will make things a lot easier and will help the kids when it comes to using their hands and toes to count.

At the beginning of the journey, counting on the fingers and toes will be just to help the kids memorize the numbers in general and move in the right direction, but later on, they might be using their fingers and toes to solve some mathematical operations they are given and make the whole thing much easier for them.

Math is all about counting the numbers in the correct order, moving to the next step of getting introduced to the different mathematical operations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06BSCCDb2rw).

These are just the basics, because counting could be taught to the kids through lots of other ways and most of them include playing some games and using different toys, such as Lego pieces, play doh, characters, etc. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roMEZv1OObc).

The interesting thing about the kids is that they learn easily and through lots of ways, so you could always try several methods before reaching the point where you believe that the kid got the information clearly and will be ready to move forward to the next thing they are supposed to learn.

There are some math tricks which parents and teachers could check here and depend on while teaching their kids any of the different mathematical operations that are found out there (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twS7IsZ_ttk). These tricks make it more interesting for both the parent and the kids, the kids will feel the challenge and thus will be willing to answer and play the game, while the parent will be loving the method and waiting for the kid to provide the right answer.

There are actually lots of tricks to play with the kids when it comes to math and these you could check on those links which we also have on our channel as some kind of help. There is the mental math tricks video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx-AWPOERbs) and there is also the magic math games and tricks in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpm-k--AWNs).

Enjoy watching this video with your kids and let them make use of their fingers and toes when it comes to numbers and counting. Let us hear your feedback and know how much effective this lesson turned out to be.
