Dwayne, congratulations man.
I'm so happy for you.
Thank you so much.
Oh my god.
You've been entertaining us for years and you took a risk and it's really paying off.
Where were you when you got the news of the nomination?
What was your reaction?
Oh man, to be honest with you, I'm still floating getting that nomination and what it represents.
And I was in bed and I sleep with my phone on airplane mode.
So I turned airplane mode on at 5 a.m. before anything happened and I was like, oh I must
do it before it started.
So I went back to sleep, turned it back on, turned my airplane mode off at 6.15.
Oh, well over at that point.
And?
I turned it off and I'm waiting to hear the constant buzzing and pinging and dinging and
I didn't.
I heard just one.
Just one buzz.
Uh oh.
And that's not good.
Yeah.
Did your heart sink a little?
Well, it did because I was like, you know what?
But I told myself the night before, whatever happens tomorrow morning, it's still going
to be an amazing day.
So then I opened it up and I figured someone had the heart to text me and say, hey I'm
sorry you didn't get nominated.
And I opened my phone up and the first text I see, I'm blind so I couldn't see anything
without my glasses.
Also 6 a.m.
6 a.m. and I see Ryan Coogler.
And I open that text.
Come on.
And he says, congratulations brother, I'm so proud of you.
And I was like, wait, what?
And then that one ping represented, yeah.
I love it, man.
I mean, also to be included in the same year that Emily Blunt's also recognized and your
buddy over here, Kevin Hart.
It's like we got Kevin, he gets nominated and Emily, I'm so happy for her because she
went for it.
That's the kind of role where that woman who she played is alive and struggled and went
through her own demons and battles and she's a happy mom today and she's sober, which is
awesome.
So I'm so proud of Emily and I'm so happy for her.
I'm happy for us in the film.
You're sitting next to Kevin today at this luncheon, will you be sitting together at
the Globes?
Well, Kevin's going to sit on my lap at the luncheon today and I don't know if we're going
to be sitting at the Globes.
He said no.
Okay, good.
Real quick, we know another Mummy film is in the works.
What are the chances we could see Scorpion King return?
Oh man, I don't know.
I'm always open.
To be clear, that is Brendan Fraser's franchise.
I love that man, he's just one of my great supporters.
We support each other and if they want to call it Scorpion King, I know a guy who knows
the guy.
You would do it if they call?
I would certainly consider it, yeah, because also that franchise changed my life.
I remember seeing it in the theatres, I remember seeing it in the movie theatres.
Brendan Fraser was the one, by the way, who okayed me being in that franchise.
So and here I am.
Congratulations brother, have fun tonight.
Appreciate it.
