Join us for a cozy winter day in the life living full-time in our RV while snow camping in the Colorado mountains ❄️🚐 We woke up to a snowy campsite and spent the day staying warm inside, baking homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch, and embracing the slower side of RV life. Winter camping in the mountains comes with its challenges, but days like this remind us why we love it…quiet, cozy, and completely off-grid. As the snow continued to fall, we turned the day into the ultimate cozy routine. And what better excuse to make homemade cinnamon rolls than being snowed in? We ended the night playing video games together inside our RV. This is what real RV living in the snow looks like, from morning baking to a relaxing night in. If you’ve ever wondered what snow camping in an RV is like, or how we stay warm and entertained during a winter storm, this is a real look at our day-to-day life on the road.

It is a cold winter morning here in the mountains of Colorado.
We've been boondocking at this spot for the last week I think. This is the first time it has snowed
this much. So it's days like today where we just get cozy in the RV and we just hang out, watch TV,
play games, bake cookies, and have hot chocolate. Stuff like that. But yeah, this is what we woke
up to. We do love camping in the snow. It's definitely a different kind of camping because
we usually just stay indoors and try to stay warm. This might be the last snow that we see
of the year before summer and we're hoping that this is the last because I'm definitely getting
tired of the cold. I've got Ollie's little flannel coat on right now because he was shivering when we
woke up this morning. Jump! Go on, jump! There you go. Want some food? There you go. Now before we get
too settled in, it looks like the snow has kind of stopped. So I'm going to go on the roof real
quick and sweep off all the solar panels. Probably won't make a huge difference but any little bit
helps. Especially on a day like today because we've got 20% battery, 19% battery right now.
We have 16 watts of solar coming in. I'll be curious what the difference is.
Suzuki's covered in snow and mud.
Alright, got it all clean. Let's see how much solar we're bringing in now. I'm going to guess
80 watts. Alright, we are bringing in 154 watts. Hey, that's not bad. 11 amps. So now we're
positive. Definitely worth going out there for. Ollie, you want to take your medicine?
Unfortunately, we found out Ollie has Lyme disease so we got some antibiotics from the
vet. They didn't seem like it was a big deal. They just gave this to us and said take it for 30 days
and he should be fine. So we have today and tomorrow left I think and he should be
Lyme disease free. Alright, here's one and a half. Here you go. You want your medicine?
Well, if we're going to be stuck inside all day, I thought I would make something a little bit cozy
so I decided to make some cinnamon rolls. So I already got the flour out. I need to get
everything else out from the recipe I found from Old Faithful TikTok. We are short on flour. We had
to do some calculations and basically lower a little bit of every other ingredient to match
the ratio or whatever. But we'll still be able to make some. You gotta do what you gotta do
in a small space. Yep. Here we go. Okay. 150 something. It all fell over and there's butter
all at the bottom of the microwave. Oh no. You know, the plate needed to be cleaned anyway.
I've got my flour, my yeast mixture, which is milk, yeast, and sugar. I let that sit for a
little bit. And then I've got my butter and then I'm going to put my eggs in there and salt. And
then we're just going to let that mix in my bread maker right here. This bread maker has
a knead button. Since I don't have like a KitchenAid mixer or anything, I use our bread maker
since it has a knead button and it also has a mix button. So it's kind of an all-in-one for us in
here. It's a little sticky, so I'm taking it out of the bread maker. I put oil on my hands, so I'm
gonna do a little stretching and folding. Because I read online that if you don't have flour,
sometimes this is all the dough needs. So then I'm gonna put it in a bowl in the microwave
because the microwave actually is warm and we're gonna let it rise.
See, that's looking pretty good, not too sticky. Say a prayer. It's gonna be great. All right,
so now you got to put that in the microwave and let it rise. Yeah, it's the only warm place in the RV.
So I'm just gonna do an hour. I still have to make, this is the, oh look how cold it's gotten
in here. This used to be a liquid, but it's okay, this is filling. So this, yeah, so this needs to go
at the bottom of this pan. Oh I see, and then you put the dough on top. Yeah. I probably need to
take Holly outside. Come on buddy, you want to go outside? Let's go. Let's go outside. You know what,
I can just attach it on here and do a handstand. Yep, every time. It looks like a lot of the snow
is starting to melt. It's still a pretty good layer on the ground and up in the top of the
mountaintops, but still very, very cold. All right, hurry up buddy, go potty. I am cold. You ready?
Jump up. Got these grilled cheese going. What would hit really good on a day like today is a
grilled cheese and a bowl of tomato soup, but unfortunately we don't have tomato soup, so we'll
have to get some when we go to the grocery store tomorrow. Every time it gets cold, I think of
tomato soup and grilled cheese and we never seem to have any, so definitely gonna buy several cans
of it so we can make some tomato soup. The cinnamon roll ingredients is pretty much done. Madison's
just taking a break back here in the, in the bedroom. So once we eat some lunch, we'll throw
those in the oven, we'll cook them up, and we'll have some nice yummy ooey gooey cinnamon rolls.
Here you go. Lunch is served.
Oh, I gotta watch out for Ollie. Yep.
What does he stand to gain? Watching my show.
And putting garlic on grilled cheese is a game changer.
Wow.
The dough has risen, so now I need to put it on the table. Hopefully it's not
super sticky, but I guess we'll see. Now I have to pray that it didn't stick to the table.
Oh god. Really bad when I go to roll it up. And I have a feeling, oh hey, maybe it won't be so bad.
It doesn't look too bad. See how it's sticking to the table, just a little bit. Just a little, it's not bad.
Okay, is that good? Yeah. Is it done? I think so. There's my roll. Let the baker bake.
The butts are always the ugliest. All right, I'll just fit that little one in there. Man, that looks
really good. Look at it. Now they have to rise for another 30 to 45 minutes before they can go in the
microwave. Another 30 minutes. Just hit start on the microwave and see what we got. Well, since
Madison is doing most of the work, well all the work, making these cinnamon rolls, it's my job to
do the dishes. So I'm going to go ahead and do it just to keep up with it. And wow, it's really
coming down out there now. It just keeps snowing like intermittently. Most of the snow has melted,
but now, now it's just coming down. Whoa. Dang. It keeps coming and going. It's crazy. Yeah.
Ollie. I guess I'll do these dishes now. Oh, also this is the icing and it tastes so good.
Cannot wait. It's coming down again.
Look at this. This is crazy. It's a winter wonderland out here. I know. It looked like
this this morning and then all snow melted and now it's back. The weather here is just bipolar.
Oh, there he goes. Okay. And already there are blue skies behind us coming in.
It's crazy, but it kind of looks like more snow's coming this way from over that way.
Let's go.
Look at the room. All right. Now I do the dishes.
All right. Clean kitchen, clean countertop. Feels so good to have that clean,
especially in a small space because you're just, you're on top of everything. So when
one area gets dirty, you feel like the whole RV is dirty, but I think we're ready to put these
cinnamon rolls into the oven and eat them. Let's see what they look like after proofing.
Nervous. They look better. Whoa. These are about to be so, I feel like the best wife right now.
You are the best wife. What are you talking about? Oh, well, I gotta just, please do not drop it.
What if I did? I would, I would cry. I know you would, but I would cry too.
There you go. They're off. So this is the icing that I made. Um, it is powdered sugar.
Um, what else did I do? Um, brown sugar. No, it was just powdered sugar. Maple syrup. No.
Maple syrup. Why don't you, why don't you just tell us?
It is powdered sugar, a little bit of heavy whipping cream and a stick of butter. And then I
used, um, vanilla extract and then maple extract and it tastes like maple heaven. It's so good.
Maple extract just changes the game in the baking world. So I thought this was going to fit in this
cup and it didn't. So it's just going to sit out and I think we need to bake that for 20 minutes.
Yeah. Look at the difference. Yeah. Look at that. Yeah. It's crazy. And you were worried. I was
worried. It's going to be good. Since we cook in an RV oven, we usually like we'll cut the time in
half. And so I'll do like 11 minutes and then take them out of the oven, spin the pan around
and then do another 11 minutes. Plus we're at like 9,000 feet. So that makes a difference. Elevation
gain does make a difference too. And I don't know what that math is. So we'll just keep a general
eye on it. Who doesn't like an undercooked cinnamon roll a little bit. And I think this
might be our dinner. Oh my gosh. No, it probably won't be, but it might be. I don't know. It might
be our dinner. And the sun has, you can't really tell it's blown out, but the sun has come out
again. Yeah. That like blues guys. And I'm happy to report we are up to 49% battery. Now most of
that was, um, most of that was from, I started the car up in the front, the van and I charged
from the motor. Cause we can charge from the alternator and it charges at like a full 600
Watts. So I did that probably every, probably for like 20 minutes, about every hour, hour and a half
maybe, but we should be good for the night. 50% is good to get through the night. And then tomorrow
we'll be driving quite a bit. So I think we'll get charged to 100% by the time we go and do our
chores and, um, make our way back here. Probably going to be about two hours of driving, maybe
more. What are they getting big? Whoa. They're starting to overflow. No wonder it's making that
sizzle noise. Oh no. Oh man. Here. Be careful with your finger though. Oh my goodness. These are,
let's get a, do we have any aluminum foil? Uh, yeah. Why? Let's put, let's put it down
like that. Or actually let's get our pizza pan there. That way if it does spill, it will go.
Um, it needs to go sideways that way. I think. I don't remember. Unfortunately. So since we have
to add the pan underneath there like that, that means we'll have to add more time. Yeah. It needs
to go that way. We'll have to add more time. What are you doing? Oh, there we go. Okay.
Add more time to it. Um, cause that will absorb a lot of the heat. This is what it's like to
cook in an RV kitchen. Yep. That's September for 11 minutes.
They're not ruined. Wow. And I literally said that like, I was feeling like such a
good wife and like, here I am like ruining ours. It's just a speed bump. It's just a speed bump.
And look, put me in a real kitchen. Okay. My goodness. That looks so good. Okay. Put them
down. You're making me nervous. Oh yeah. Those are some good old homemade cinnamon rolls.
I guess we'll find out. All right. Let's try this again. Yeah, there you go. Can't forget the
corners. Those look so good. I'm not even kidding. This might be my dinner. It is dinner time. It is
dinner time and I think it will be my dinner. Yeah. I think this is so good. I can't even
imagine what it's going to taste like on the cinnamon roll. All right, well let's cut it.
Let's eat one. Let's have us a cinnamon roll. We've been slaving away. Well, you've been slaving away
literally all day. It actually took a lot longer than I thought it would. Get in my belly.
And the best part, they're only 10 calories. All right, here we go. First bite. I think I need a,
I'm just going to go for it. Ready? Oh yes. Oh my gosh. Oh my goodness. Is it good?
Oh my goodness. Whoa. Whoa. You almost put your elbow in my cinnamon roll. Is it really that good?
Man, I need to go run around and yell at people. This is so good. I'm not even. I think I'm going
to fork. I'm not exaggerating. I'm not doing this for the camera. I promise. This is so good.
Tyler's not, he doesn't exaggerate. I mean, look at this. I can't even grab it. Dude. See,
I told you it is so good. No, that's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. I didn't want to
say it until you ate it, but this is the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Probably the best
dessert that you've ever had. Whoa. Like, oh my gosh. You know what, Ollie, I will give you
a little bit here because it's, here you go. Oh wow. We're going to take Ollie out one more time
before we get settled in for the night. The sun is going down behind the mountains. I can feel
the wind through my pants. We're definitely not going to be walking very long. We're just going
walk up the hill and come back because it is like 20, I don't know, six degrees. And with the
windchill, it's probably even less. You hear the birds? That sun feels good. Yeah. The sky is cleared.
The sun is shining. Wow. And the sky is blue. Wow. It's so bright. Good boy. Well, we've made it to
the top of the hill. Oh wow. It's so clear out right now. My legs are starting to go numb a little.
Are they? Yeah, like these pants are very thin. Let's walk back. He's like, walk back? What do you mean?
He's like, we just got here. Look at him. He's already in defiance mode. Come on, let's go.
Last night he woke me up at 2 30 in the morning. I needed to go outside. So there we were
out there in the dark, in the woods. Come here, buddy. Come here. Come on this way.
Good job. We're going to head back down the hill to the RV and get cozied up for the evening.
Probably jump in bed, turn the heat on. And then I think we're going to play our game.
We've been playing a game together, two player game. It's been really fun. The RV is out of the
sun now. So no solar, no extra warmth from the windows. Steps are frozen. Okay. Before we get
settled in bed, I'm going to check our live mousetrap and make sure we don't have any mice
in here. I didn't hear any last night. And you can usually hear them like scratching and trying
to get out. So I'm, I'm doubting there are any in here, but sometimes one is very quiet.
I know got in here one night and he was in there all day and I didn't hear him.
So let's see if we got one. Nope, no mice. I don't know why, but this is the place
where I catch basically all of them. We are cozy in bed. I ended up putting the thermostat on 65
because the heat started to feel good and I want it to be even better. So good luck.
When was the last time you were in a ball pit? Oh, it was the time Rose pushed me in.
We should jump in. Oh my gosh.
It looks like we have to solve it.
Eight plus eight, 16, eight plus seven.
I can't think under that pressure.
Get on. Oh, there we go. Remember to dash. Oh, there's a mouse. I saw him crawling over there.
He's see he's crawling by the, he was crawling down by my seat. You see him?
I think it was the same one as I saw yesterday,
but he was running over by the driver's seat underneath it. Oh, the ball was the cheese.
Told you the mice are friendly. And then he opens the door. There you go.
If I remember right. Yep. And then there. Oh, I did it too early. Sorry.
Oh my gosh. Was that the last one? No way. Oh my God.
Well, we're going to call it a night. It's been a long,
kind of a cold day today. We're going to stay warm with the heater on. We've got a big chore day
tomorrow, so I'm going to get a lot of sleep. I have a feeling it's going to be a big day tomorrow
too. So, but yeah, thanks for watching. Thanks for hanging out with us and we'll see you in the next
one. Bye.
