What Can You Teach Kids with Play Doh? Play Doh Games | Play Doh Maths | Maths Games for Kids
Are you asking yourself about the things you could teach your kids at home with the help of using play doh? There are lots of things but math is our favorite for the counting that could be done through story problems, through building shapes and through lots of other different ways.
Play doh is one of the favorite games that kids love to play with for the different shapes that they tend to make and build, but it is always more interesting for the kids to have a goal in mind or something to look up to and that's when you ask them to do something for you as part of teaching them another.
Counting is one of the easy mathematical processes that kids could do but if your kids are still at the beginning of their educational journey then you have to examine their counting skills to know whether they could do it or not. Michelle in this video examined her son James' counting skills by letting him add dots to the snakes which are both made from play doh.
This game depended on Michelle asking James to add a specific number of dots to every single snake they have made. When you are asking your kid to count a specific number, you should make sure to use different languages in order to give the kid the chance to know all the questions that could be asked but still provide the same answer at the end; such as put three dots and count them, add two to these three, and so on.
This play doh game for kids is successful because it will teach them to count, it will let them solve mathematical problems while they are playing with their toys and it will also teach them some of the phrases used in math and give them the chance to understand the question being asked and the problem they are supposed to solve.
When you are playing with your kid in the homeschooling process, let their creativity take its place because that would also build them and their characters at some point. In this video, Michelle gave James the chance to make his sleeping snake and thus there were two ordinary long ones and one that appeared in its spiral sleeping form.
We have different educational videos on our channel that help those learning with play doh to receive some ideas and games that could help them in moving forward. From these educational resources, you could find the videos teaching the kids how to count numbers through asking them direct questions and through playing with them, such as when Michelle asked James to make her three buns for her bakery shop (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBsj-t9809E) and you will also come to those which are teaching kids to write numbers but with using play doh instead of using a pen and a paper (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgsaOTbbjUA).
There are lots of educational videos that we have which are related to learning with play doh, but we also have those which are more related to those teaching kids lots of things and might even be about math but with using other toys like Lego. There are lots of videos to check, such as (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSMd8kMHIHo), (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj5fjISL744), (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPW1bmLTFdA) and you could find lots of other videos with different ideas that will give you the support you might need in homeschooling your kids.
Homeschooling for preschool kids is beneficial and parents should always choose the right ways and the right methods. But there are also some tips which the parents should keep in mind. The parents should be always part of this educational process and while playing with their kids to teach them, they should also be part of these games and let the kids ask them some questions in return, which will be also considered part of the learning process because as a parent, you should examine their skills and know whether they know the answer to the question they have asked or not. Another important tip is building a discussion about the answers they give and ask them how they have reached them and what other methods or ways that could be used to bring the same answer at the end.
Let us hear your feedback about this method if you used it with your kids and shoot your questions if you have any!
