Is the BEST Rum Barrel from the Mai Kai?

The most well-known and most consumed rum barrel is the Barrel O' Rum from the Mai Kai. This drink was on the menu when the Mai Kai opened in 1956 and has remained its most iconic drink over the last 68 years. Mariano Licudine created the Barrel O' Rum with obvious inspiration from Don the Beachcomber. It's everything a great rum barrel should be and it's a drink you have to make if you have not already.

While this recipe is different from the version found in Beachbum's Taboo Table, The Atomic Grog has gone to great lengths to recreate the secret recipe from the Mai Kai. It's hard to imagine an alternate version being any better than this one.
