AI GeneratedThe creator presents the \"FP Whip,\" a creative riff on the \"Orange Whip\" from the movie *The Blues Brothers*. Developed for a challenge by Gnome's Tavern, the drink replaces the original's vodka and orange juice with a rum blend and pineapple, while maintaining the required creamy texture and \"whip-like\" appearance.
Let's make the FP Whip.
My friend Gnome over at Gnome's Tavern issued another challenge.
This one was to help celebrate the 46th anniversary of the release of the Blues Brothers.
In that movie, they feature a drink called the Orange Whip.
So Gnome's challenge was to make a riff on the Orange Whip.
And this challenge has three rules.
Number one, you have to use a cream or a cream-like substance.
I'll be using whipping cream.
Number two, it has to include fruit.
I'm going to be using pineapple because I love pineapple.
And number three, it has to resemble a whip.
It has to be whip-like.
No problem there.
But I wasn't satisfied to just swap out the orange juice for some pineapple juice and
call it a new drink.
So I played with the ingredients just a little bit.
The original Orange Whip is a split base of vodka and rum.
Why would you use vodka when you can use rum instead and it'll taste better?
I don't know.
So I swapped out the vodka for another rum and I'm going to be using a rum blend.
The original Orange Whip also has an orange curacao or a triple sec.
And since I'm not using orange juice in my FP Whip,
I'm going to be using a different type of liqueur.
In this case, I'm going to be using Falernum.
Played with the ingredients a little bit.
Played with the proportions a little bit.
Played with the garnishes a little bit.
And the FP Whip was born.
A note on the rum.
This is a rum-based cocktail, unlike the original Orange Whip.
It has two rums in it.
And I'm going to specify exactly which rums to use.
Because I'm not your boss, you can use any rums that you like.
In fact, you can use one rum, two ounces if you'd like.
The rums I'm going to be using today are going to be Mount Gay Eclipse
and Smith and Cross.
One ounce of each.
Again, if you want to play with the rums, feel free to do so.
And if you find a combination that kills in this drink, feel free to let me know what that is.
A note on the Falernum.
There are more than one variety of Falernum out there.
I often make my own Falernum at home.
I didn't do that for this drink because I have a bottle of Maggie's Farm Falernum
sitting on my shelf.
So I use that instead.
And honestly, it works great in here.
If you'd like to use a different Falernum, feel free to do so.
But the Maggie's Farm Falernum is the official Falernum of this drink.
To make this drink, we're going to start by putting two ounces of our
whipping cream into the shaker.
Two ounces is 60 milliliters.
Four ounces of pineapple juice.
Four ounces is 120 milliliters.
Three quarter ounce of your Falernum.
Three quarters ounce is 22 and a half milliliters.
One ounce of your Mount Gay Eclipse.
One ounce is 30 milliliters.
And one ounce of your Smith & Cross.
30 milliliters.
I'm going to start by giving this a dry shake.
Dry shake done.
I'm going to get some ice.
Now that I have some ice, I'm going to fill my pint glass with ice.
Now I'm going to give this a wet shake.
So add some ice.
And I'm going to strain this into my ice filled glass.
And it is a pint glass, not a Collins glass.
For some reason, my shaker seems to leak cream products.
I don't know why that is.
I'm going to wipe off my hands real quick.
These hands are clean.
Now to garnish, I'm going to start with a, well,
I'm going to start with a grating of the nutmeg.
Ow!
I'm just kidding.
I don't know why I always do that.
Thank you, Jason and Amy, by the way.
How do we do this in a good way?
That's not going to do it.
That's part of my thumb.
There's got to be a trick to using this that I don't understand yet
because I'm not a high-tech person.
Nutmeg.
And I'm going to put on a twist of lime.
By put it on, I mean I'm going to twist it, express it,
wipe it, and discard it.
Add a straw.
I'm not bleeding, that's good.
And finally, a little skewer with some pineapple on it.
You can use pineapple leaves or a wedge of pineapple if you'd like.
But this is it.
This is the FP Whip.
Drink with good spirits.
