Le site archéologique El Cerrito, située près de la ville de Queretaro est un lieu pré hispanique très important au Mexique. Les premières installations remontent à 300 av. J.-C. et pyramide elle-même a été construite entre 400 et 650 apr. J.-C.

Le site a été utilisé pendant plus de 1 500 ans, et même après la conquête espagnole, les populations locales continuaient à y faire des rituels, ce qui est assez rare pour un site préhispanique.

Contrairement à beaucoup de sites archéologiques isolés, El Cerrito se trouve presque en pleine ville.

The archaeological site of El Cerrito Archaeological Zone, located near the city of Querétaro, is a very important pre-Hispanic site in Mexico. The earliest settlements date back to 300 BC, and the pyramid itself was built between 400 and 650 AD.
The site was used for more than 1,500 years, and even after the Spanish conquest, local populations continued to perform rituals there, which is quite rare for a pre-Hispanic site.

Unlike many isolated archaeological sites, El Cerrito is located almost in the middle of the city.
