Ashwari has flown in all the way from London to be with us here tonight.
She said she wouldn't miss the event or anything in the world.
All yours, Ashwari.
Thank you.
Thank you very much, Siddharth.
Thank you, everybody.
It's an honour for me to be here this evening with you all.
And I seem to have this incredible sense of belonging amidst you all.
I just seem to be coming back more and more.
Of course, I do have this close affinity to the Times of India group of publications
and never put aside the high regard that I have for the film industry.
More than anything else, it's you guys out there, the audience, who are encouraging
true talent, which we see tapped here every year, time and again, so many years.
I'm proud to announce the presentation of awards to two of our peerless artists
who have contributed their artistry to Indian cinema with single-minded devotion.
It is truly an honour for me here to announce the two Raj Kapoor awards, lifetime achievement.
Both these artists have been a part of our very being.
There isn't one man or woman in our country who hasn't applauded their consummate performances.
For over four decades, they have set the parameters for others as newcomers to sort of
follow up. They are both indeed unbeatable and inimitable. In fact, they have contributed
largely to Indian cinema by their sheer presence and, of course, skill at tackling roles of
complexity and rigour. May I call upon a very talented actor to have bagged the maximum number
of Filmfare awards, 15 of them to his credit, Mr. Kamal Haasan.
And may I call upon Saira Banerjee, who made her debut with Shammi Kapoor in the film
Jangli, to do the honours, please. And now, ladies and gentlemen,
please welcome Vaidya Rahman and Shammi Kapoor.
