We stayed the night at the "Berghotel Franzenshöhe" which is on the Italian Side of the Stelvio pass and the first ride of the day was up the Passo dello Stelvio. "We" are Dominique and I - I met Domiquie a couple of days earlier while riding through Friuli (Friaul) in northern Italy - he was on his way back to Spain from a 4-week motorcycle trip and I was riding solo for a few days through the Italian Alps. We spent a whole day of riding in Italy and we ended up at the bottom of the Stelvio Pass in the Berghotel Franzehöhe the night before. Before we parted ways again we enjoyed the magnificant view from the top of the Stelvio pass close to the Tibet House. The Stelvio Pass (Passo dello Stelvio, Stilfser Joch) is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.757m (9,045ft) above the sea level, located in the Ortler Alps in Italy between Stilfs in South Tyrol and Bormio in the province of Sondrio. It's one of the highest mountain roads of Europe. The road itself is a marvel of engineering skill. For many this the Stelvio Pass (Stilfser Joch) is considered the most magnificant road pass in Europe.
