Well it's a modern world and as a captain of industry you might need something a little bit
more special than your everyday car. Well luckily as your industry evolves into crypto and AI
so does the Mercedes-Maybach. This is the new 2026 updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
The updated Mercedes-Benz S680 Maybach limousine is powered by a refreshed
4 litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with 450 kilowatts and 850 newton meter output.
There's a 76 litre petrol tank which would cost about $225 to fill with 98 and a fuel consumption
of 11 litres per 100 kilometres. It has all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, seating for four,
you can have five but really who wants to sit next to someone in this car, and you can whisk
yourself to your next corporate takeover from zero to 100 kilometres an hour in just four seconds.
Pricing hasn't been announced yet but the pre-update W223 S680 Maybach started at
$576,600 for options and on-road costs and the new one, well depending on your spec,
just assume it goes up from there. So how does the Maybach differ from a regular S-Class? Well
for a start you let everybody know that you are driving the best of the best because this really
is a step up. You have a nice illuminated Maybach lettering on the grille here which is now larger
than it used to be. The Mercedes-Benz star lights up as well but you have this beautiful chrome
ridgeline onto the bonnet where I'll share in a second what hides beneath. The car is available
with the two-tone paint job and you can see here this is pure paint. The car is the silver grey
colour underneath, the opaline white is added as a second layer. The stripe that you can see
down the side takes days to paint on properly so a very impressive thing. At the front while
we're here and if you are counting, you've got Maybach logos here on the lower air dams. There
are 64 Maybach logos on the exterior of this car alone. You've got new headlamps here which now
feature the Mercedes-Benz star as part of the illumination element but there are rose gold
accents and again more Maybach logos put in there and of course this is the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz
technology so you have adaptive LED and very intelligent lighting at the front of the car.
Now under that bonnet is the new M177 Evo engine so this is the 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 that has
now been heavily revised for this car and for the S Class range. You've got more power, more torque,
it's now running a flat plane crank, not for better performance but for more smoothness because
well when you're a passenger in the back of this thing, you want that limousine ride everywhere
you go. Now rear quarter, more illuminated logos, it is the thing. The size of this car really is
something to behold so this is the third length of the new S Class. You have a regular S Class,
you have a long wheelbase S Class and then you have the Maybach S Class. It is 18 centimetres
longer than a long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S Class and all of that translates to interior room.
Now for Maybach trivia fans out there, the new car is actually shorter than both the 2010 Maybach
57 and 62 but it does have a longer wheelbase than the 57. It's worth noting that the Maybach
62 offered a 3,827 millimetre gap between the wheels. That's longer than an entire Suzuki Jimny.
While we are looking at the side, it's kind of cool to see a couple of things. You've got the
illuminated welcome carpet that shows a Maybach logo on the ground there but these wheels are a
forged alloy wheel for the first time that now has centering Mercedes-Benz stars. So as you roll along
that star always points up and that's what you want. Now I could step behind the wheel and tell
you what it's like to be the driver but I'm not going to be the driver. You're not going to be the
driver. Let's get in the back because that's where the real magic happens. First of all, why close
your own door when a touch of a button it will close for you. Perfect. Now while we're here, this is
probably the most comfortable way to roll around the countryside that you could ever imagine.
As I sit back, I am six foot four and I am swimming in legroom back here. I actually can barely reach
the front of that passenger seat there. There's even a footrest for me should I need that.
You've got all the mod cons. You've got heating, ventilation, massage. You've got obviously the
Maybach pillows and the goose down head pillows to stay even more comfortable. But what do you say?
You want even more? Well, at the touch of a button you can open up this panel here and you've got
heating and cooling controls. You've got regular cup holders and you have a pair of
very special cup holders for two very special cups because behind me you have Maybach champagne
flutes that will click in here and secure for your journey ahead. Also between the seats is a cubby
here that has a fridge. So if you've got some aged Krug to celebrate your latest business acquisition,
what a perfect place to have it. Now of course this car gets all of the tech upgrades that we've
seen in the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class as well. You've got the little remote media activations
that look like a smaller iPhone that you can use to control the car's infotainment system.
This has got the updated MBOS operating system inside. So if you are going to be a driver you
do get all the latest technology. But really when you're back here it's not about that. It's about
how this car sort of says things about you and you can probably see this brown interior. It's called
Beach Brown and it's a new color for the Maybach and you can see that it is everywhere. It's in the
carpets, it's in the seat rails, it's in the lower and upper door trims. Basically the sky's the limit
with what you have here. The colors that are available are not really limited to what's in
the brochure. If you go to your Mercedes-Benz or Maybach dealer and say that this is I'd like green
with white stitching or I'd like my family crest embroidered or I'd like some specific combination
of colors, you can get all of that done to your exacting specification. And I think it's that level
of opulent personalization that really does set this car above not just a regular S-Class but
pretty much everything else on the road. Up front your driver scores plush seating with all the
heating, cooling and massage amenity they could want. Technology comes by way of the 14.4 inch
central super screen. Flanked on either side by a pair of 12.3 inch screens, one for the driver and
passenger, all neatly covered by a single pane of glass. Like the new S-Class, the S680 Maybach runs
on the new MBOS operating system for even more communication, entertainment and convenience tech
at your fingertips. So James you're saying you know I've had a great success on some crypto coin
or new AI kind of business venture. One of these is going to be in my driveway before the year is
out. How much is it going to cost me? Well the thing is I could give you a list price but it doesn't
really matter because no matter how you personalize your Maybach it changes the price of what that
transaction is going to be. So it really is a case of if you have to ask it's probably not the car
for you. However to know that you can go completely custom on what you want from upper and lower paint
from interior leather choices including a vegan option, what stitching, what contrast you want,
kind of makes it a sky's the limit car to really show that it is worth putting a little bit of
effort at work to become a proper captain of industry so that you can choose your personal
Maybach to be exactly the way that you want it. Now of course if you've got any more questions
about the new Mercedes Maybach S-Class or the regular Mercedes-Benz S-Class hit us up at
drive.com.au. We've got photos, we've got news stories, we've got all the details that you could
need. If you've got any questions about this car ask us in the comments below and in the meantime
tell me what would be your colour choice. Are you going to go with the greeny silver over white with
brown or are you going to go for something a little bit different? There is a night package
that you can get which blacks out components. Personally I think you're better off going for
a bit more chrome and opulence just to remind everybody that you're the most important person
in the room.
