April’s Monthly Mini is Theresa, named in honor of Lisa’s Mother. "Losing your mother is one of the hardest things a person can go through. There’s a quiet emptiness that comes from knowing the one person you could always count on is no longer there.

What carries me through are the memories, the good ones that never really leave. My mother and I shared a deep love of flowers and birds, and this mini quilt was created to honor those moments we held close.

Her love of peonies and hummingbirds will always be among my most treasured memories. Every Mother’s Day, I would search for the biggest, most colorful hanging basket I could find, just to see her smile. Along the north side of her garage grew a row of peony bushes in every shade, soft pinks, rich corals, deep reds, much like the colors woven throughout this quilt.
