“面若桃花,玉容生辉。”

In the timeless pursuit of beauty, ancient Chinese women didn't look to a laboratory—they looked to the mountains and the soil. Long before modern setting powders and highlighters, there was Yù Nǚ Táohuā Fěn (玉女桃花粉): a sacred, natural face powder crafted through fire, earth, and the essence of precious botanicals.

In today’s video, I am recreating this romantic tradition for my beautiful wife. Using wild Motherwort (益母草) harvested from the hills, I followed the ancient calcination method—kneading the stalks with rich rice water and firing them in a hand-built mud pit for a full day and night. Combined with the vibrant, extracted pigments of Cochineal (胭脂虫) and a delicate touch of pure pearl powder, this isn't just makeup; it’s a floral and mineral tribute to a thousand years of elegance.
