Hi everyone and welcome to my channel.
Today we are going to start A1 level of German language with its explanation in English.
And I will be covering the complete content of A1 level of German language.
After we have completed A1, we will start with A2.
So, if you haven't subscribed my channel, please do it now.
I will be uploading 2-3 lessons of A1 level of German language each week.
So that you can get these notifications whenever I upload a lesson.
It's important that you have subscribed my channel already.
So, please do it now and let's start today's lesson.
First, we see that what topics we are going to cover in today's lesson.
So, first we will go through the alphabets.
There are 26 alphabets, the same which are in English language.
However, there are some additional alphabets that we do not have in English language.
And then we will go through some of the combinations of alphabets,
which will make our life very much easy.
Because if we combine certain alphabets,
there will be a particular sound or a particular pronunciation of this.
And whenever these combinations of words will come in,
then we will be able to understand and pronounce and read these words,
if we know how to use or how to pronounce these combinations.
So, we have listed some of the combinations here in today's lesson.
And along with the examples.
So, let's start with first the alphabet.
The very first alphabet is A.
So, in English it's A and in German language it's A.
Then we have
A in English language is equivalent with
here E.
So,
So, all these four alphabets
they are pronounced in the same way as we pronounce them in English language.
Then we have
So, it's not R, it's
So, the alphabet S, it will produce different sounds and we will see it here.
When it is combined with other alphabets.
But for now, since it's alone, we will pronounce it S.
So, we go through one more time and I will pause in between so that you can also pronounce it once.
So,
So, one thing that you might have noticed is that here we have this.
This is German language and this is English language.
So, if I draw a table, then we have A.
So, in English we have A, which is A in German language.
Then we have E and it's equivalent in English is E again.
But that is in English and that is the German.
So, this is very confusing.
You have to make sure that you memorize this very well.
Next, these are 26 normal alphabets.
Now, we have some additional alphabets in German language.
So, let's go through these.
These are four.
One, two, three, four.
So, first is E.
So, it's pronounced as E.
And it is equivalent of A, E.
We pronounce all three separately.
So, if I pronounce this alone in German language, it will be A.
It will be A.
And it will be E.
Okay. So, these are three different sounds.
Very similar to each other.
And we have one word, which is Mention.
Mention means girl.
So, let's say that if we remove these, it will be...
Now, just to give you a feeling and that how this sound will affect the overall pronunciation.
In German language, if we remove this Umlaut, then we will pronounce it Mertion.
That is wrong, actually.
If we have these dots, two dots on it, then we will pronounce it Mertion.
Mertion.
Next, we have O with two dots.
And that is equivalent with O, E.
And it is pronounced like Tül.
Tül.
Then we have one example.
Tül.
And Tül means oil in English language.
Tül means oil.
Next, we have Ü.
So, it is U, equivalent of U.
U, E.
And it is pronounced as Tül.
And we have one example here.
This word is called Tugung.
Tugung.
Tugung means exercise.
This can be a written exercise or some physical exercise.
Then we have a β, similar to β, which is pronounced as S.
And it is equivalent of double S.
And we have one example of this.
Here, the word is called Straße.
So, it will produce a sound like S.
Straße.
Straße means street.
So, now we come to the next section, which is...
Until now, we have seen the individual sounds pronunciation.
Now, we will see if we combine two alphabets, what type of sound it will produce.
So, here we have some combinations.
The first one is E and A.
So, whenever E and A, both are in German language, E and A.
Whenever they come together, they will produce an E sound.
A bit longer. Longer than normal.
Because normally we have E here.
But if E is combined with A, then it will produce a bit longer sound.
E.
So, we have listed a few examples here.
You see that here we are using this combination.
So, M, E, A, T, A, N, Nieten.
In the next example, we have again this combination.
So, F, L, E, A, J, A, N, Fliegen.
Fliegen means to fly. Nieten means to rent.
Then we have L, E, A, J, Lied.
Lied means song.
L, E, A, J, Lied. Lied means song.
Next, we have A, E, that is opposite of the first one.
And whenever we have this sound, this combination, it will produce a sound like I.
Same that we have I in English language.
If we have A, E, it will produce sound of I.
Let's see the examples.
We have F, A, E, F, A, N, Reifen.
Reifen means tyre.
Then we have Alone, A, E, which means egg.
That is I. I means egg.
Next, we have this combination.
R, A, E, S, Rice.
Rice means rice. R-I-C-E, rice in English language.
Next combination, we have A, U.
So, whenever this combination comes in any word, it will produce a sound like Au, Au.
So, we have examples like Ka, A, U, F, A, N, Kaufen.
Then we have again this combination.
S, A, U, W, A, F, Sauber.
Sauber means clean. Kaufen means to buy.
Then we have A, U, Te, O, Auto.
A, U will produce a sound like Au and Te, O, Auto.
Next, we have L, I, Se, Ha.
I hope you can see this dot.
It's important to know that these combinations can come anywhere in the word.
They can be in the start of the word, they can be in the center of the word or they can be at the end of the word.
So, here we have L, I, Se, Ha.
This will produce a sound like Lish, Lish.
So, first example is A, Ha, Er. L, I, Se, Ha.
Erlish, Erlish, Erlish.
Erlish means honest.
So, you see that this L, I, Se, Ha.
Here it is coming at the end of the word.
But here it is coming at the start of the word.
So, it can come anywhere.
L, I, Se, Ha, Te.
So, we know that until here it's Lish.
And then we have a Te, Lisht.
Lisht means light.
Next we have again at the end.
A, N, De, End.
L, I, Se, Ha, Lish.
Endlish means at last.
Then we have S, Te or S, Te.
So, if a word is starting with S which is followed by Te or Te.
Then it will produce a sound like Sh.
So, in German language the sound Sh is used very often.
You will see that in all the examples and in the coming lessons that this Sh sound will be.
You will hear this sound quite often.
So, S, Te, O, N, Te, Sh, Or.
It's the same spelling which we use in the English language.
But here S, Te will be pronounced like Sh, Or.
So, the sound of S will be Sh, Or.
Next we have S, Te, O, De, A, N, Te.
It's the same spelling like student in English language.
But here you see that we have a P after S.
So, how we have to pronounce the S like Sh.
So, it will be Student.
Student in German language.
In the next example we have again S, Te.
And in this example you will see that we have again this Te, A combination.
So, if you know these combinations it will be easier for you to read and pronounce these words.
Spielen
So, S, Te is Sh.
Here S will produce a sound like Sh.
And Te is Spielen.
Next we have S, Se, Ha.
And wherever this S, Se, Ha comes it will also produce a sound like Sh.
So, this Sh sound is very common in German language.
This S, Se, Ha can also come at the start of the word in the center or at the end.
So, we see that F, E, S, Se, Ha.
Fish
Fish means Fish.
F-I-S-H Fish in English.
But here to pronounce this Sh sound we have used S, Se, Ha.
Fish
Next we have S, Se, Ha.
Now you see that S, Se, Ha is coming at the start.
So, we have S, Se, Ha.
L-R-F-A-N
Schlafen
Next we have again S, Se, Ha at the end.
And if you see we have another combination which we have learned here.
And do you remember what sound it produced?
A-E
If they come together they will produce a sound like
I-F-L-A-E
Fly
S, Se, Ha
Sh
Fleisch
Fleisch means Meat.
So, that is the end of the lesson.
If you have any question you put these questions in the comment.
In the next sections we will follow the next topic.
But we will follow a very simple approach.
I hope you like the way I presented it.
Everyone has its own approach.
The way I learned German language I would also bring that flavor for you people.
So that you also feel it not a very difficult.
It is a difficult language as compared to English.
But it's not that difficult and not that complex.
The way when you Google for the things or you watch different videos here.
You will see that lot of simple things are made.
I don't know intentionally a bit complex.
My approach will be to follow the step by step approach.
And make this language as much easy and simple for you as possible.
So, subscribe my channel if you haven't done it until now.
So that you get the notifications on the next videos.
Thank you for watching the video and see you in the next video.
Bye
Hi everyone and welcome to my channel.
Today is the second lesson of a one level of German language course.
And today we are going to cover the topic noun.
It's a very important topic in German language.
And you will see that as we progress with further topics.
This topic of noun and associated article.
This will evolve with the passage of time.
And this topic will remain active even if you are in B1 level or B2 level or C1 level.
Because you will be learning the German noun in each level of German language course.
And you will be coming across this topic.
So let's start and see what is noun in German language.
And why it's so important and it's relatively difficult topic.
But we will follow a step by step approach.
And this will help you learning this topic very easily.
So let's start with noun.
So noun in German language is called Nomen.
N-O-M-A-N
Nomen
And every time you write a noun in German language.
The noun will always start with a capital letter.
So irrespective of its position in the sentence.
Whether it comes on the first place in the sentence.
Whether it comes at the center of the sentence.
Or whether it comes at the end of the sentence.
The noun will always start with a capital letter.
So this is very important in the first point.
The second point is that each noun in German language has a gender.
So it can be masculine, it can be feminine.
Or it can be a neuter noun.
Or it can be a plural noun.
So the first three types I have written here.
Masculine, Feminine, Neutral and Plural.
So I am pronouncing these words in German language.
Masculine, Feminine, Neutral, Plural.
So the first three types are the singular ones.
So the singular noun has three further types.
Which are Masculine, Feminine, Neutral.
And there is one Plural.
So how will you identify that a noun is Masculine, Feminine, Neutral.
That will come with the passage of time.
We will also go through some of the tips that will help you identify the gender of the noun.
So that you can say whether the noun is Masculine, Feminine or Neutral.
But at this particular stage we have to follow the thumb of the rule.
And the thumb of the rule is that whenever you come across any noun.
You learn this noun along with its gender.
Or along with its article.
So let's see what is an article.
A-R-T-E-K-A-L.
Article in German language.
And for every noun, every type of noun there is one article.
There are three types of nouns.
And there are, sorry, four types.
And there are four types of articles.
One for each type.
So if the noun is Masculine.
The article of noun will be Der.
D-A-L, Der.
If the noun is Feminine.
The article of noun will be Die.
So if you remember from the first lesson.
We learned that this D-A in German language.
Will be pronounced like E.
A bit longer.
So this is D.
For Feminine noun.
And if the noun is of type Neutral.
Then the article will be Das.
If the noun is Plural.
Then the article will be Die.
You just remember this for the time being.
Don't confuse it with this D and this D.
It's same.
But we will check what is the difference actually.
Upcoming lessons.
When we will see these topics.
How these topics, this topic will evolve.
So I have taken one Masculine noun.
M-A-N-N, Mann.
Der Mann.
Mann means Man.
Der Mann.
Die Frau.
Frau is Feminine and it means Miss or Woman.
Das Kind.
K-I-N-D, Kind.
Kind is Neutral.
Therefore its article is Das.
And next we have Plural.
Or Plural.
And the article of Plural in German language is Die.
So you see that the Kind is changed from Singular to Plural.
By adding an AS at the end.
But that does not mean that every time a Singular can be made into Plural.
By adding AS.
We will check this topic in detail in the next lessons.
How we can make Plural from the Singular.
But here I repeat all both the steps or both the points.
All the nouns in German language will start with a capital letter.
The second is all the German nouns have a gender.
Which can be Masculine, Feminine, Neuter or Plural.
And for each type there is one article associated with it.
And for Masculine nouns the article will be Der.
For Feminine nouns article will be Die.
For Neuter or Neutral nouns the article will be Das.
For Plural the article will be Die.
Here Kinder means Kids.
So its a single Kid and Kids.
So now we come to this part of the lesson.
And here you see that article can be further divided into two subsections.
One is Bestimmter.
And the second is Unbestimmter.
So look at the first one.
In the first lesson we learned that whenever T will come after S.
The sound of S will be from.
It will give a sound like Sh.
So now Bes.
Here because T is followed by S.
So we can see that the sound is Bes.
These are the German words for Definite, Indefinite.
So Bestimmter means Definite.
Unbestimmter means Indefinite.
So these are two types of articles.
Bestimmter, Definite.
Unbestimmter, Indefinite.
Now Bestimmter articles are Der, Die, Das, Die.
Same like this.
So these are actually the Bestimmter articles.
But the new thing here is Unbestimmter article or Indefinite article.
So we say a book, a table, a chair for example.
So depending on the gender of the article, gender of the noun.
We will use either Ein for masculine noun.
Einig for feminine noun.
And Ein again for neuter noun.
And plural, there will be no single.
Because Ein is for one or a book, a cup of tea, a mobile for example.
So it cannot be plural.
So Ein for masculine.
Einig for feminine.
And Ein for neuter.
So these are indefinite articles.
These are definite articles.
And now I have listed few words.
So that we increase our vocabulary and see that how these words or nouns can be pronounced.
And if you remember from the last section or the last lesson.
We learned some tips and tricks to see when different alphabets in German language are combined.
What kind of sound they produce.
So here in this video we will also see some of the words that have these combinations.
And we will see how these are pronounced.
So first we start with masculine.
And here is
So from the previous lesson if you haven't attended that.
I would highly recommend that you go for that lesson first.
Because we learned some basics that if we have
So here we have one word or one noun.
And it has
So if this combination comes what type of sound it will produce.
So here it will produce
So here it is
Tisch means table.
Next we have
Park is park in English language.
Next is
Saft means juice.
Next we have
Now again we see that
We have a T after S.
And if there is a T after S.
The sound of S will be again like
So here it will be pronounced as
Stuhl means chair.
Next we have
So these are some of the masculine nouns.
Next we come to the feminine noun.
And feminine noun has an article V.
So you see that all the feminine articles have the noun V.
So we check first
Jose means pant.
And Jose in German language is a feminine noun.
So it has a D article.
Then we have
Now here again you see that
The same rule will apply.
So here will be
And we learned also in the previous lesson that
All the alphabets which are written in the
In the word or in the noun
All of these will be pronounced
So there will be no silent alphabets in any word in German language.
And therefore this D and P will be separately pronounced.
Next we have
Uhr is clock.
And Uhr is feminine.
Next we have
Katze in German language is feminine.
Katze means cat.
And it's a feminine noun.
Therefore it has an article V.
Next we have
J is pronounced as yacht.
So
Next we have
And the first example is
Now again if you remember from the previous lesson
We learned that
The sound of A, U or A, U will be like
Therefore it's auto.
Auto meaning vehicle or car.
Buch means book.
Next we have
Hem means shirt.
The dress shirt is called hem.
Next we have
Again you see that
We have the same combination that we had here.
And it will be
Next we have
Simmer means room.
Now we go to the plural ones.
And we see that what are the examples.
If you remember from the previous lesson
And if you have seen that previous lesson
We learned that
A, U in German language will be pronounced like
So here
Next we have
Wisher means books.
So it's plural.
And you can see that here it was
So you see the change here.
Although it's not the topic of today.
But just give you a hint.
The U is changed to
And we have added an
So there are different ways to
How we can make plurals from the singular nouns.
We will discuss this in the next lesson.
Next we have
We learned here that
So Jose was
Exactly
So here
And now you see that
We have only added one additional M.
And it has become plural.
So there are different ways how we can make plurals from the singular nouns.
Next is
Now again we learned here
House
Singular one
And these are houses.
So it will become
So again
The A is changed to
And we have added an
In order to make it plural.
Next we have
Here you see that we had
And in order to make it the plural of it.
We have added one S.
Again there are different rules.
For making plurals from singular.
This is not the topic of today.
Today is just to give you
An overview of nouns.
Articles
And all type of
Gender
What a noun can have.
So I hope this is clear.
I quickly recap it.
All the nouns in German language will start with a capital letter.
Irrespective of the noun's position in the sentence.
The next is
All German nouns have an article.
They have a gender.
And if the gender is masculine.
Article will be there.
If the gender is feminine.
The article will be D.
If the gender is neutral.
The article will be thus.
If the noun is plural.
Then the article will be D.
And you have to remember.
Every noun
Along with the article.
So that you can
Memorize this.
There are some tips and tricks.
We will cover these in next sections.
How you can identify the noun.
And its gender.
But at this particular level.
You can remember
All these words.
So that you can
So that when you use these words.
Or nouns in the next lessons.
You have these words in your mind.
And we can start from the next lessons.
So I hope this is clear to you.
One more point is that.
If you are
Now searching in Google.
For the articles and nouns.
Different topics.
Or you watch different videos on YouTube.
There can be a confusing thing that.
You will see that sometimes.
You have them, they am.
We haven't covered it yet.
Because its advanced topic.
You might see them.
They am.
We haven't covered it.
Because its again advanced topic.
We will follow a step by step approach.
So I would recommend you.
Not to confuse with these.
And do not try to understand.
What it is.
At this particular time.
If you are really new to German language.
Because this will really confuse you.
So you follow the step by step approach.
So that we.
We.
Improve our knowledge of German language.
In a step by step way.
If you have any questions.
You can put these questions in the comment.
And please memorize these nouns.
Make your notes.
So that you.
Have this knowledge for the next lesson.
So if you haven't subscribed my channel.
Please do it now.
And if you have learnt anything new.
Or lot of things.
Then just.
Give a thumb up to this video.
And looking forward to see you in the next videos.
Thank you for watching it.
Bye.
