Cooking Turkey the Forgotten French Way | Fireplace & Oven

Today I’m cooking a whole turkey the traditional countryside way in rural France.
The turkey is prepared with rosemary butter carefully tucked beneath the skin, keeping the meat tender and juicy during the long roast. Before entering the oven, it is gently smoked with burning straw inside the old fireplace, creating a rich rustic aroma that belongs to another era.
The bird is then slowly roasted in a traditional wood-fired oven, using only fire, smoke, stone, and time.
No modern kitchen. No shortcuts. Just the calm rhythm of old rural France.
