Today, you’ll see that Paul is the kind of builder who doesn’t chase luxury or spectacle. His goal is far more practical and far more difficult. Deep in a remote forest landscape surrounded by harsh winters, he sets out to build a massive workshop garage entirely by hand.

However, as you may imagine, transforming a bare concrete slab into a fully enclosed industrial-style workspace in the middle of the wilderness can become a challenge far larger than expected.

What begins as stacks of lumber and exposed framing slowly evolves into a striking structure defined by clean geometry, towering rooflines, and an enormous open interior hidden beneath dark steel cladding. The project follows every critical stage of the construction process in extraordinary detail: raising giant wall sections, assembling complex roof systems, weatherproofing the entire shell against snow and moisture, installing oversized openings, and turning raw materials into a building capable of surviving years of extreme seasonal conditions.

Yet what makes the project so compelling is not complexity for the sake of complexity. The garage embraces a philosophy of minimalism and purpose. Nothing is excessive.
