London.
C/Us of black and white photographs of Joanne Dainton - film and television actress. C/U of Joanne with very large curlers in her hair. She is at Rose Evansky's London hair salon. Various shots of her chatting to the male stylist as he takes out her curlers. Rose herself comes and brushes Joanne's hair through. Good C/U of Rose back combing Joanne's hair and C/U of Joanne posing - looking into the mirror with a very coy expression.
Various shots of hairpieces being fitted to Joanne's hair. Big hair! A lovely band of large white flowers is placed upon Joanne's hair. Totally fabulous! "Such feminine impulses to buy new clothes and indulge in beauty treatments can reveal a whole range of hidden characters" states the narrator, he observes how with her new "do" it is hard to believe she is the same girl as in the photographs. "Husbands find it puzzling" states the narrator "it is something which defeats the average male."
The suggestion is that hairstyles can change a woman's outlook or personality.
