Join me for a walk through the beautiful Cotswold village of Naunton on a rainy and windy summer day. While many imagine summer as blue skies and sunshine, this walk captures a more familiar side of the English countryside - grey clouds, breezy lanes, moving trees and the sound of rain passing through the landscape.
Despite the weather, Naunton remains every bit as beautiful. The village stream flows through the centre, birds continue their day and the rolling Cotswold countryside stretches out beyond the village.
There is no talking or music in this video, just the natural sounds of the countryside, wind through the trees, flowing water and the atmosphere of a summer day in rural England.
Naunton is a picturesque village in Gloucestershire, located in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village sits within the valley of the River Windrush and is surrounded by rolling hills, farmland and traditional Cotswold countryside.
The village has ancient origins and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. Its name is believed to derive from Old English, meaning "new farm" or "new settlement."
At the heart of Naunton is the River Windrush, which flows gently through the village and is crossed by several traditional stone bridges. Many of the cottages and buildings date back hundreds of years and are built from the honey coloured limestone that has become synonymous with the Cotswolds.
Historically, Naunton was a farming and wool producing community, benefiting from the prosperity brought by the medieval wool trade that helped shape much of the region.
