This House Hides Behind a Wall That Breathes
The Brick Veil House, in Ahmedabad, India, was shaped by three pressures at once: intense western sun, urban noise, and the exposure of domestic life in a dense residential setting.
Instead of becoming a closed box, the house responds with a porous brick veil.
This brick layer filters sunlight, reduces heat gain, softens exposure to the street, allows air to move, casts changing shadows, and creates a calmer threshold between the city and the interior.
Behind this veil, the house unfolds through a sequence of filters: brick walls, gates, courtyards, verandas, deep overhangs, recessed glass, vegetation, concrete, wood, and shaded spaces.
This is a house about privacy without total isolation.
About protection without complete closure.
About turning brick into light, shadow, air, texture, and silence.
