Dumpster Drop Leaf Table Gets an Amazing Restoration!

T
Trash To Treasure

This vintage drop-leaf table was literally pulled from a dumpster by my friend Lamont from Best Bins—and honestly, I didn’t want to do it. Between split legs, botched repairs, rusted hardware, and a thick, dated finish, this was a major project.

But I believe in saving good furniture, and this Canadian-made table deserved a second chance. In this video, I restore it from the ground up: repairing broken joints, stripping and sanding carefully around layered veneer, de-rusting brass toe caps, and updating the look with layered walnut stains and a durable lacquer topcoat.

You’ll see how I:
• Repair broken pedestal legs and veneer
• Strip decades of grime and toner
• Use Evapo-Rust, Mohawk finishes, and General Finishes Gel Stain
• Update from red mahogany tones to a more versatile walnut finish
• Bring dull brass back to life with polish and paint
• And fully reassemble this once-forgotten piece
