Nadal s Final Masters 1000 Title Rome 2021 Final Extended Highlights

pretty good start how's that for a couple of backhands oh wonderful anticipation control too there's a fair bit of pace on the Nadal forehand now whenever a player wins a point like this it's a little bit of a gamble but it's just calculated very nice ice cool Djokovic's turn to throw in the effective drop shot the return of serve he's missed it and it's an early break for Novak Djokovic now it's a good move forward quickly up the court the backhand goes wide and it is back-to-back breaks of serve and Nadal forehand leaping off the clay on that occasion the Djokovic forehand this time doing the damage oh he's got him probably be the first to admit that the drop shot wasn't tried good enough the reflexes were sharp i think it was going out as well the shot from Djokovic but Nadal elected to play it oh he's got him on the run and look at that what a response not the first time we've seen him hit the deck this week now on earth did he pull off this pass break point back comes Djokovic what a response oh that is exquisite feel mentally they are giants such an effective combination especially when the drop shot is played with such skill a rougher special that's too good Nadal will feel he's there for the taking it is a break of serve by Djokovic's high standards it was a loose game on serve change up from Djokovic the slower ball but saved in style Nadal wraps it up the tightest of opening sets equally as impressive when Nadal has won the first set against Novak on this surface as well 15 and one yes got him a fabulous backhand place to perfection and some nice momentum now for Djokovic it's good lost his balance but somehow was able to maintain control oh Nadal guessing the right way oh that is simply sensational that's a beautiful strike just leaning on that backhand a little further up the court it's a terrific combination Djokovic converts in firm control now that's more like it from Nadal that's the tennis we were seeing in the opening set withstood a bit of early pressure and thereafter it was surprising he one-sided he's ready for it Nadal but he didn't quite get the elevation no again he was waiting for the drop shot oh that is quite spectacular delicate Djokovic bringing the quality oh brilliant from Djokovic couldn't have placed that any better and it was almost a case that he was waiting for the Nadal backhand to go back cross court look he's hanging in that corner oh well played some quality from Nadal initially in the point and a second break point saved an emphatic finish to a big big game makes the most of just a little bit of extra time he's got him Nadal makes his move midway through this deciding set he is in a ruthless mood right now he's absolutely walloped that backhand wants to get it done right here right now you have to wait a little longer admirable resistance back comes Djokovic still fighting it is a 10th title for Rafa in Rome he draws level with Djokovic on 36 masters trophies another fascinating chapter in this wonderful rivalry the celebrations can begin for the Spaniards Nadal is the champion at the Foro Italico
