We are back 8.42 with 2 of Hollywood's best and brightest
and Hathaway and Ewan McGregor their careers have spanned
decades in genres from drama to romance to musicals. Well now
they're teaming up for a sci-fi adventure, it's called the end
of Oak Street is set in the 80's. The film centers on a
suburban couple that starts to notice some bizarre happenings
in their neighborhood and we are excited because we get to
share an exclusive first look at the trailer take a look.
I think that our neighborhood.
I will street has moved.
How is that even possible.
And you and good morning. Okay, I have so many questions but
first not the question I plan to ask that you and you pointed
out in the trailer. You are wearing some very short short
was some shorty shorty short. Yes, they were trying to bring
them back and you should well to bring out my online the
first day that I saw you and then I arrived on set and I
just kind of looked at looked up as a nice shirt.
And you sweat, thank you for not talking about my shorts,
I mean well, you know you're Scottish it's like yeah,
you know right sort of yeah, we have more fabric I would say
I don't know, but yeah, we're just that you know the artist
chairs that we get. The short shorts and the tall artist
chair. It wasn't easy. Thank you I did my best a lot yeah,
it's man spreading. We've got to get on top. This is so fun
and it's just a sci-fi you guys have never worked together
right have you know to yeah, well now you have and you're a
couple and tell us about the movie and how how this came to
be.
Well, it was hard to recover from the short. We should maybe
talk about David David yeah, David Mitchell amazing director
he made a brilliant horror movie called it follows on a
test super tiny budget. And it's one of the greatest
movies I've ever seen and I just loved it and so I reached
out to him, I said if you're ever doing anything that feels
right that I could be a part of the so interested and honored
if you thought of me and then he sent this script which was
just a wild, you know, it's this kind of tight family drama
set against I don't know a world of time traveling
dinosaurs and then they said that you and was going to play
my husband, I got very excited like yes, that's your yes,
yes, yes, so it's it's set in the 80's. Yeah.
Until the dinosaurs come in right natural. Today to say I
mean how many times. Yeah, it felt it was he wrote a very
beautiful script very interesting. It's it's really
an exploration of a family but then
the page 1520 suddenly it turns into something quite different
they weren't expecting and I couldn't believe as I was
reading what is going on here saying I was like I've never
I've read a lot of scripts in my life and I've never read
anything that's bold like this that kind of is taking a swing
like this and and I've heard it's funny too.
I think so yeah, yeah, family and my kids were howling okay
amazing. Yeah, are you you have a little boys are they pass the
dinosaur phase. Okay, so this movie might have like
reenergized oh how could it not so all right, you have
famously battled 6 floors, what's harder fighting
dinosaurs. Yeah, it's Lord yet the dinosaurs.
I did have a I had one major interaction with an actual
dinosaur head in this number when I was going through the
hedge and they kind of came at me with a big I think it was
the dinosaur dinosaur. Yeah, we did have this one moment
where there's a shot so David our director he would say
things like okay, you're going to start 3 blocks away and
sprint and then we're going to push in and then a close-up of
the 2 of you scared more scared you ever been like how many
takes though haha do a lot of takes and so we kind of like
you lose your mind doing it that way and it's so silly
because it just stunt men in outfits holding a dinosaur head
on a stand. But they would get very close to you and I
remember one take the guy who did and you and very
protectively reach out a hand and bumped the head. Turn to
each other, I was like thank you. Much safer now you want
okay, so what for you what is scarier by fighting dinosaurs
or Miranda Priestly who whose bite is worse, yes, exactly
understand. I think you get more out of the relationship
with Miranda kind of you know, I'm not but you and both
obviously, you know make you fit in your clothes better yet
was just terrifies you with a look at the other one you're
running for your life. I hope it how lucky to have to not I
know not a serious question, but you know what is I mean
people have loved that were spotted to are you breathing a
huge sigh of relief like maniacal super fans. We love
it, we thank you you pulled it off. How good does that feel.
I I think you would you just said about the huge sigh of
relief because we love it too and we didn't want to come back
and disappoint everybody but the way that it's been embraced
to the level that it has has been overwhelming and I think
beyond any of our wildest so is there going to be a number 3
I hope so okay and then can I get a cameo because Bush Hager
got a cameo in 2 and it is the first and only time in our
friendship, I've been jealous for I know. I am what about
okay, okay, it's not that what about I heard that you watched
and or and you're feeling like ob one might have might might
have been able to be in that universe so maybe we can.
I know, but I was wrong because mine Star Wars knowledge is so
poor that I I didn't realize that that the and or is done
and it's finished because at the end of season 2 doesn't it
turn into yeah, I think it does, but something happens,
but I didn't know that so I was like oh I think I could be in
this. I don't think I feel like when the force is involved like
logic can be flickering we could blur the edges a little
bit. My wife is in a Star Wars series now. And what I would
really like to do is to
I thought maybe they could team up together somehow but we're in
very different timelines so you know, but it's not would be
maybe through the again this multi-verse I think the
reality. Yeah, it's fun to have you here, I hope you'll come
back when we can talk about the whole movie but that was just
the trailer and you can see the flowers just 30 seconds as just
the short shorts portion, the short portion of the trailer
with the full trailer. The end of Oak Street on today dot com
in the film hits theaters on August 14th.
