Video Summary
AI GeneratedA review of two new Warburton's frozen toasties purchased from Iceland: the Matured Cheddar Cheese and the Chicken and Bacon Club. The reviewer tests different cooking methods (microwave vs. air fryer) to evaluate texture and flavor, ultimately finding the cheese flavor superior but the air fryer texture preferable.
How we all doing out there? I hope you're all absolutely spot on.
Now I've been shopping to Iceland, come and have a look what I've got.
I was in Iceland having a little walk around and I noticed this is what I'm new.
Warburton's Toasty Chicken and Bacon Club.
Next to them were these Warburton's Toasty Matured Cheddar Cheese.
See it says microwave in four minutes and this is microwave in five minutes.
That picture looks so fake it's unbelievable doesn't it?
Now I know it probably is look.
So what have we got? We've got Toasty Warburton's on our thick toasty bread
and same for that one as well look.
Must look so fake doesn't it?
And I'd like to politely say as well,
if you're not subscribed to the channel then maybe consider subscribing.
It does help and give the video a thumbs up.
I can't thank you enough.
So the price they were £3.50 each.
I've done Cathedral City frozen ones very very similar.
These are new out so let's take a closer look at the packaging.
So we've had a look at the front and let's go around the back.
So we've got some spiel there.
Warburton's Chicken and Bacon Club Toasty.
Cooked chicken breast with smoked streaky bacon,
cheddar cheese and seasoned mustard sauce in thick white bread.
Topped with white sauce, grilled mozzarella and coloured cheddar cheese.
Wow yeah I know what you're saying you can make your own can't you?
Warburton's Cheese Toasty.
Mature cheddar cheese with a cheddar cheese and mustard sauce
in a thick white bread topped with white sauce.
Grilled mozzarella and coloured cheddar cheese.
Yeah £3.50 each.
You'd think that these would be more expensive
with having bacon and chicken in them wouldn't you?
Rather than that.
So we'll have a look at the chicken and bacon first.
So where's the cup?
It says for best results heat from frozen which these are.
You can microwave them, you can do them in the oven or you can do them in the air fryer.
You're looking around about half an hour if you do them in the oven or the air fryer.
28 minutes, 33 minutes.
There's all the ingredients.
Allergens of wheat in there, soya, milk, mustard.
Warning all every effort has been made to remove some bones some may remain.
There's more nutrition there if you want to have a look at that.
Best before 14th of February 2027.
So that's the chicken and bacon.
I've read them out.
Where's the cup?
Microwave, oven.
25 minutes, well 25 minutes yeah.
There's the ingredients.
Allergens are wheat, milk, soya and mustard in there.
Allergy advice it says.
Allergency ingredients in bold.
It also says may contain egg, fish and sesame seeds with more nutritional information.
Right I'm going to microwave one and I'm going to do one in the oven.
We'll sort of compare how they do.
So let's get them open see what we've got.
Let's see if I can get into this one first.
Without scissors, yeah I can.
Chicken and bacon.
So it even tells you look microwave this way up.
That's what you get.
Yeah it's very very similar to the Cathedral City.
See if I can open it.
No it's solid.
I'll wait till it's cooked and then we'll have a look inside.
So that's that one.
Let's have a look at this one.
I know what you're saying you can make your own.
Yeah there's the cheese one look.
Yeah that's solid as well.
Right let's get one in the air fryer and let's get one in the microwave.
So mine's going in the air fryer like that.
I'm going to do it on the bake setting.
So it's like an oven basically.
So I'm doing the cheese one in the microwave and the chicken and bacon in the in the air
fryer on the oven setting.
Well sorry the bake setting.
It's about half an hour.
So I'm going to four minutes.
I was going to say 180 degrees then but 800 watts.
On a microwavable plate and it's got microwave this side up.
Cheese uppermost.
Let's get this going.
So it's had four minutes in the microwave.
Let's get it out now.
It's stuck in there with cheese.
Yeah that's what you get.
So I'll cut it in half.
My wife's going to try half.
She's still here now.
She doesn't want to be on camera though.
Yeah so we've got.
See I'm a bit weird me because I'd have put the other ends the other way around because
I like a crust at either end.
But that's just me.
So there's the cheese in there.
There's loads of cheese.
Cheese on top.
Steamy cheese.
So what do you think of this then?
Yes it did yeah.
Yeah it's gone a bit soggy mind.
I mean it would do in the microwave wouldn't it?
Yeah it's been toasted on it but it's gone very very thin look.
Right just a minute.
I'll set the camera up at the table and we'll try it.
So my wife's just sat here.
She's not going to be on camera but she's going to try it.
So do you want to fire away?
Yeah you take whichever bit you want.
See what you think.
Yeah it's not all toasted is it?
Little bits soft.
Yeah it has gone soft yeah.
That bit there.
Good.
Cheesy.
Loads of cheese.
This was £3.50 mind.
It's hot is it?
It's nice.
We'll just cool it down a bit.
The other one's in the air fryer now so I'm just waiting for that to do.
We'll try that one.
So it's got mature cheddar cheese with a cheddar cheese and mustard sauce.
So that's like a cheesy sauce in the middle and on the top.
Mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
More cheese.
Very cheesy.
You pick the mustard up can't you?
Yeah.
It's quite nice.
It is.
The microwave makes...
Makes the bread soft.
Makes it a bit chewy.
There.
This is a bit tough to eat isn't it?
And I think that's because it's microwaved.
The edges.
The sauce inside is really nice.
It's tasty.
The edges are chewy.
Soft in the middle.
Cheesy.
There you go.
My hands are clean.
I mean they all serve a purpose don't they look?
Yeah £3.50.
Three and a half quid though.
It's quite pricey for something that you could knock up at home.
Maybe not the bechamel sauce.
I don't think you'd make bechamel sauce like especially for cheese toast.
But if you've got leftover cheese sauce or something you could do that couldn't you?
They remind me of the ones you get in Costa.
Yeah.
You go in for Costa for two coffees, two cheese toasties.
You don't get any change out of 20 quid.
Do you?
Yeah.
I know what everyone's saying.
Make your own, make your own.
How lazy is that?
These are available in our supermarket.
So what would you mark it out of 10?
Well when I say that our supermarkets are in Iceland,
I don't know if they're going to go into it.
They will, I would imagine they'll be going into the other stores.
Out of 10?
I don't know really.
I don't know.
Flavour-wise it's really nice.
I think it's the cooking of the microwave cooking.
We'll see what it's like done in the oven.
Yeah.
But when else would you buy something like that?
No.
I know that's what it's all about isn't it?
To stick it, you want it yeah quickly.
I mean I was thinking like if you get home from work you wanted a light tea
and it's the chicken and bacon ones there.
You could stick it in the oven on low half and I'll go and get a shower or a bath.
You know.
Come down, put the telly on, tea's ready.
Cheese, cheese toasty.
Cheese and bacon, chicken toasty.
That would be tea I think.
Yeah, you'd be wanging it at me wouldn't you?
Here's your tea.
I think they're a quick snack aren't they?
I just say get a freezer tea, always get a freezer tea.
I'm terrible, terrible.
You like to cook though don't you?
You're a good cook.
Yeah.
I'm shocking.
But after a long day at work I'm not a fan of standard cookers.
So max out of 10?
The flavour, I would give it a 9.
A 9?
I was going to say 8.
You're going 9.
I like, it's proper cheese, proper.
Would you buy it again?
No, I wouldn't spend £3.50 on a frozen toastie.
No.
But the cheddar cheese is mature cheddar, it's nice.
There's a nice flavour in the sauce.
It's just the chewiness after microwaving.
Yeah, maybe that's not.
We'll see what it's like done in the oven.
I'll go and get it out now.
So this one's been done in the oven, air fryer oven.
So I'll have a look inside.
On top it looks lovely that doesn't it?
That's how I like it.
So have a look inside.
There's your chicken, it's chicken breast.
That's what you get.
And there's your wafer thin bacon, yeah.
It's not entirely wafer thin, but it's pretty thin.
And more cheese.
The same price, £3.50 for this one.
Yeah, I'm going to, I'm going to put them out of the way like that.
There's the bottom.
Yeah, crispy, not soggy.
Right, let's get it cut in half.
Oh, that's better.
I'll cut it the same, my wife will try it with me.
So were you saying that this is, there's less saturated fat in this chicken and bacon one?
Wow, yeah.
Right, I'll get it on the table and we'll try it.
So this is the one done in the air fryer, this chicken and bacon.
I like the sound of the crunch on this one when you're cutting it up.
Do you want to choose your?
Oh, that's nice and crispy.
Crispy.
And I'll get that bit there.
So yeah, I showed you in it before, didn't I?
Yeah, so we noticed there's some cracked black pepper in this one.
I do like a bit of black pepper.
Mmm, it's nice.
Always quiet at the table when we're eating.
Picking the chicken up, bacon.
It's not as cheesy, is it?
No, it's not as cheesy.
Inside's not creamy.
You get the crunch of the bread, which I like a lot better than soggy, soggy bread done in the oven.
But I do like it done in the frying pan a lot better.
A nice, you've got your mouth full.
A nice chicken, uh, uh, fried chicken, uh, fried cheese toasty done in the, in the pan on the hob.
Yeah, that's it.
I'll get it, I'll get it out.
You know, it can't be old 80s style bread.
Oh no, I'll have to get one.
My mum's got one, so she's going to give us, give us it.
So, what do you think?
It's nice.
I would rather have the cheese one, obviously, really.
I'm not keen on that synthetic taste in bacon.
The chicken's okay.
That bacon that's like way too thin and a bit artificial smoked taste, I'm not that keen on.
I prefer it done in the oven.
I think that cheese one in the oven would be what these needs.
I like that crunch of the bread.
It was hard work cooking it as well because I had to, I had to,
I got the thermometer on, I had to sort of end up taking one half off and cooking it so that
the bacon was properly done, you know, uh, sorry, the chicken was properly done
because I didn't want to, I don't want to get a dicky belly like Dewey.
No, it was a bit of a faff.
It was a faff.
And I think that wouldn't have been very nice in the microwave either.
No, not, not, yeah, microwave, bacon and chicken.
Yeah.
So, a mark out of ten.
Yeah, I was, I was, I was going to say six.
The flavour's not as good as the cheese one.
No.
The method of cooking is better, but like I said, if the cheese one went in the
cups of the cheese one, how would we cut this one, that'd be.
It is only a whopper thin.
Not very tasty is it, considering.
No.
Right, you're still eating, yeah, we're still going to eat them,
still going to eat them, that's for sure, not throwing them out.
I like the added black pepper in that.
Yeah, I do like a bit of black pepper.
So, yeah, Max, yeah, we've just done the scores.
We'll get going, if you're still with us now.
Seven quick potatoes.
I know.
Wow.
Tell me what you think in the comments and if you've got any recommendations,
please let me know.
I'll try and get hold of them.
So, it's a bye-bye from me.
No singing this time.
I'll catch on the next one.
Bye.
