Delaney Hall inmates treated better than "90% of the world," Congressman says after ICE tour

Following a congressional oversight visit on Monday June 1, U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Republican, told NJ.com detainees were being treated with "dignity and humanity" inside Delaney Hall in Newark, N.J.

"These people that are in there are living better and being treated better than probably half of American and 90% of the world. They have medical care. They have physicians, nurses. They have a law library. They have a regular library. They have all the facilities. They have a beautiful soccer field. Great workout equipment, beyond anything you would normally expect. I thought it was going to be okay when I came here. I had no idea that it was going to be quite as nice as it is to be honest with you."
