RV Canada in the Winter. Avatar Grove || The World's Gnarliest Tree || Vancouver Island, B.C. (Part 2/2) We are full-time RVers in Canada and are spending this winter on Vancouver Island. We are learning as much as we can of the story of this country as we are immigrants and came here as children. This part of a two-part series about Port Renfew and Botanical Beach. Avatar Grove is located just outside of Port Renfrew, B.C. on Vancouver Island. This now saved from logging 1000-year-old ancient forest was saved thanks in part to Forest Alliance and public pressure. For many Americans who are aware of the Sequoia these beautiful, mysterious and magical old-growth forest has western cedars and Douglas firs that soar into the sky that need four to five people, arms outstretched, to span their trunks! The forest now has built paths that will lead to to Canada Largest and Gnarliest Tree. In this video you will see: 1. The road conditions to Avatar Grove 2. Learn about Lonely Doug (a short drive from Avatar) 3. This history of Avatar Grove 4. How you can save these ancient forests. If you are trying to decide if you should go to Cathedral Forest Vs. Avatar Grove then the best way to describe them is this way: Cathedral Forest is tourist-friendly, wheelchair accessible and easy to get to.
