Modern British music was born shortly before the start of the 20th century at St. James’s Hall in London. By that time, the composer Edward Elgar had already made a name for himself with various orchestral works and, above all, choral works, though without attracting much public attention.
The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Simon Rattle, performs Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Op. 36. The recording was made on January 26, 2024, in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz.
