Iran State Media Announces Initial Details of the Draft US-Iran Peace Deal

The initial draft Memorandum of Understanding for the U.S.-Iran peace deal would reopen the Strait of Hormuz in 30 days, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday. The ship traffic through the strategic passageway would be managed by Iran and Oman. However, military vessels are not included in the draft agreement. Under the deal, the U.S. would withdraw its military forces from the vicinity of Iran, and the U.S. Navy would lift its blockade of ships connected to Iranian ports. The memorandum would also establish a 60-day negotiation period for a broader peace deal. There are still several key elements not clear in the draft agreement, including whether Hezbollah or Israel will be part of the agreement, and whether Iran will hand over its enriched uranium to the U.S. However, the White House denied the report.
