Hi and welcome back to the Happy Burro Homestead. We are super excited to share with you our new
miniature donkeys. We just got two miniature donkeys the other day. They just came home.
We had to drive about five hours to pick them up and I just can't wait for you to see them.
We had some really great friends of ours that let us borrow their trailer to go get them
and we drove out and the people that we got them from were just the sweetest people.
They were just a wonderful couple. They've been working with donkeys for a really long time
and I know it was really hard for them to let them go but we just we're so in love with them.
We're so thankful and they are just they've already you can tell they've been loved on.
They've been taken really great care of. We've got a 10 year old mom and if you don't know of
donkeys live for a really long time. They live like 35 years so she's going to be with us for
a long time. We've got a mom and her name is Coco and then her 11 day old baby who we've named Mo
and he is just so sweet. He loves hugs and he is just so friendly. She leads really well.
They're already hot well she's halter broke. We're going to be working with him so you get
to see that today. He actually wears it really well and he's already coming along really really
fantastic. So we're really excited. I hope we can just continue to give them such a nice life here.
Our kids are totally in love and we're learning a lot as we're getting to you know get to know them.
They're actually like a pretty low maintenance animal. They're pretty hardy which is just
fantastic for us because we do because of where we live we do get pretty hot summers and we get
pretty cold winters. They're also great guardi animals and they don't really like our cats.
So mama has chased them off a couple times but that is also pretty appealing because we do live
in an area that has a decent amount of coyotes so she will be a good protector of our little farm
here. Coco is a miniature donkey and Mo actually his dad was a micro mini so we're kind of excited
to see how big he gets. A miniature donkey is up to 33 inches or 36 inches I think and below
is considered miniature and 28 inches and below is a micro. So we're really excited to see how big
Mo gets because he's pretty he seems big to me right now but he's really tiny. So Kylie were
you pretty excited when the donkeys came home? Yeah and what it was pretty rainy when they came
home so we didn't get and it was getting dark so we the kids didn't get too much time with them
but now they're getting out and they're just getting used to them. Do you think that they
like you? Yeah Mo likes his hugs. They kind of take a little bit more time to get used to
the kids but they've been really gentle and there hasn't been really too much of an adjustment. It's
been really great and right now they have this whole pasture. We probably at some point will
section it off. They don't quite need this much room but we're gonna let them use it for now
and and then eventually we'll probably section it off and do some rotational grazing.
Hey Kate come on in. Hi. Hi Kate are you pretty excited about the donkeys? Yeah which one's your
favorite? The baby one. Yeah do you know how old he is? He's 11 days old. He's pretty big for being
11 days old. As you can see there has been a lot going on here at the Happy Borough Homestead in
the last week or so. We got our barn doors done and they just turned out beautiful. They're Dutch
doors and they will be an entrance to the barn for three separate runs for different animals
and they just turned out so much better than I ever expected. We just need to seal them up and
add a little bit of hardware and they will be completely finished but they just turned out so
awesome. We also started some of our seeds finally and we've been preparing our garden beds.
We've also moved our chicks out of the house and into the barn so they are in a larger chicken
brooder. As you can see the cats are having a great time watching them in there. They seem to
be a lot happier. They have a lot more space. It's keeping them out of the elements and it's still
keeping them warm and it won't be long before we're able to move them outside. Other than that
we've just been excited to bring home some of our new animals and spend time with the ones that
we've had here already and we're just getting ready for spring to really get started. Well,
we're excited you got to meet our baby donkey and his mom and we're just so excited to keep
sharing things with you. If you like this video please hit the like button and the subscribe
