AI GeneratedIn an exclusive interview, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez responds to accusations from the Trump administration and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rodriguez denies claims that Cuba poses a security threat to the U.S. and argues that U.S. sanctions and blockades are the true cause of Cuba's economic struggles and humanitarian issues.
So the feds say they expect Fidel Castro's brother Raul to show up here in the United States to face
murder charges one way or another. Cuba is reportedly considering potential plans now
for military drone strikes on U.S. territory. That is just some of what I asked Cuba's foreign
minister Bruno Rodriguez about today in our exclusive sit-down. President Trump over the last
week said that Cuba is a failing nation multiple times. What's your response to those comments?
If the Cuban state would be an inefficient state and the Cuban economy would not be viable,
what would be the use for an executive order by the president of the United States issued on
January the 29th declaring a complete energy blockade against Cuba? What would be the need?
Executive order of May the 1st establishing secondary sanctions against all the
economic counterparts of Cuba in the world. They have also resorted to military threat.
No political difference, no difference between two states, no consideration
about the political system or the government of another country could be the reason for
provoking a war or to cause a bloodbath or a humanitarian catastrophe. Secretary of State
Marco Rubio told me, sir, on Thursday that the Cuban regime poses a direct national security
threat to the United States of America. He mentioned an arsenal of military drones provided
to the regime by the Russians, by the Chinese. He alluded to reporting in the United States last
week that the Cuban government has even discussed internally potential plans to attack U.S. military
targets. Is any of that true? Well, just imagine Cuba is a small island, 100,000 square kilometers
and 10 million inhabitants. Based on what logic, what would be the common sense behind the idea
that Cuba could threaten a nuclear superpower? Second, we will have to ask the Secretary of
State if he has any evidence. I have heard him lying on and on regarding this issue.
Last week, as you know, sir, the Trump administration indicted Raul Castro. This
is the same type of decision that was made about Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro before the United
States captured him, removed him from the country. Do you have concerns about the United States
plotting potential regime change in Cuba? Are you prepared to defend against that militarily?
We will have to ask the U.S. government why did it wait for 30 years to do this? We will have to
ask what is the ethical value, what is the legal value behind these allocations right now,
or if this is part of the political narrative aimed at manipulating the U.S. public opinion
to justify a military aggression against Cuba. Secretary Rubio made a video last week where he
spoke to the Cuban people directly and he said the real reason for your suffering right now
is because the Cuban regime has plundered all of your country's resources. What's your response to
that? The Secretary of State is one of the main masterminds behind the military threat against
Cuba, the energy blockade, I mean the complete blockade on fuel supplies to Cuba. He was one of
the authors of the extreme tightening of the blockade against my country in all areas. However,
he lies on and on. He continuously intends to deceive the public opinion in the U.S.,
the U.S. Congress, and the international community. I have heard him say very often that the blockade,
that is the energy blockade, does not exist. This message has been incorporated as an unfortunate
act to the perception Cubans have about the Secretary of State. He was not born in Cuba.
He does not know Cuba. He knows nothing about Cuba. So we have reached out to the State Department.
We are waiting to hear back with their response to the foreign minister's accusations against
Secretary Rubio. His comments about the Trump administration, we'll bring that to you when we
have it.
