He expresses confidence in maintaining his winning streak while acknowledging the challenge posed by George, who is historically strong at this circuit. He also highlights the introduction of new car upgrades and reflects on how last year's experiences have strengthened his mental game and performance.
A little bit of a full circle moment I guess because we're returning to the scene of your
first F1 podium and now you're here leading the championship. First off how confident are you
that you can make it a fourth win on the bounce and how much are you expecting from the upgrades
this weekend as well? Yeah I mean for sure it's really nice to be back in Canada. Of course we
had another break but as I said it's very nice to be back here. A place that obviously has a
special meaning to me because it's where I got my first podium. So this weekend definitely we'll
try to make even better memories trying to finish higher you know in the highest step of the podium
but we know it's going to be very you know it's going to be difficult. George has always been
very strong here so it's not going to be straightforward but yeah we're also bringing
upgrades which hopefully they will work well. Obviously we've tried on the same and so far
they seem positive but we'll see better tomorrow when we go on track but definitely very exciting
to be back and hopefully another good weekend. Last year you got your first podium here now you're
the championship leader, super relaxed. How are you going into this weekend with the upgrade package
as well on the car? Yeah same approach as the other ones. Focusing on the process, enjoying and
of course we have upgrades and we'll see how they work. You know obviously they bring
more performance but we need to check if it changes car balance and stuff like that and
George is super strong here so definitely it's going to be a tight fight but we're ready and
I'm very excited and looking forward to to be back on track tomorrow. But how would you explain Kimi
to people how you have managed to take that step forward and do you truly believe that you
can sustain it through a whole season that we've got to go? Well that's the question mark
I think obviously the year of experience last year is playing a massive role and also going
through the difficult moments last year helped me to make me a lot stronger ahead of this year and
I feel more in control of the situation also more aware of what's good and what's not good for me
and yeah also just trying to focus on the right things but so far it's going pretty well
and obviously the goal this weekend is to pick up from where we left off in Miami and just continue
this good streak but yeah I mean I think I can obviously you never know but I think you know
it's not impossible to maintain this form for the whole year.
