Edward Elgar - Sonatina: Andantino. Peter Pettinger. D.H. Lawrence.

Elgar originally composed this charming piano piece for his niece, May Grafton, in 1887. The rendition in this video is a revised version Elgar completed for publication more than forty years later and is played here by Peter Pettinger.

The painting is entitled "A Song from Long Ago" and is by Fletcher Charles Ransom. The poem "Piano" is by David Herbert Lawrence and, I feel, rather fits the tone of the piece.
