NUNAVUT
Nunavut is the newest and one of the most remote regions of Canada. Covering nearly 2 million square kilometers across the Arctic, this vast territory is known for its tundra landscapes, scattered northern communities, Inuit culture, and extraordinary wildlife.
In this travel documentary, we explore some of the most fascinating places in Nunavut, from the capital city of Iqaluit on Baffin Island to the dramatic mountains of Auyuittuq National Park and the wildlife-rich landscapes of Sirmilik National Park. The journey continues north toward Pond Inlet, Ellesmere Island, and the remote wilderness of Quttinirpaaq National Park.
Along the way, we also visit Arviat, where polar bear and beluga whale observation tours attract travelers to the shores of Hudson Bay, and discover Devon Island, the largest uninhabited island on Earth. Finally, we look at the long history of Arctic exploration and the legendary Northwest Passage that shaped many expeditions through the Canadian Arctic.
Nunavut remains one of the least visited regions in the world. With limited infrastructure and vast untouched landscapes, only a small number of travelers ever experience this Arctic environment.
