🌿 Discovering Northern Academyʼs Philosophy Through Nature
In this video, we invite you to explore one important part of Northern Academy’s educational philosophy — helping students grow through meaningful connection with nature. 🌿
At Northern Academy, Deep Dive Fridays are more than just field trips. Through regular outdoor experiences, students are encouraged to explore, reflect, connect, and grow beyond the classroom.
As our Principal shares during this trip, nature plays an important role in supporting children’s holistic development — academically, emotionally, socially, and creatively.
We hope this video gives you a glimpse into how we nurtures the well-rounded students through experiential learning and the natural world. ✨
Here we are at the Never Sleep River with our middle school students for their naturalist
studies program and we try to get them out here as much as possible and the main things missing
from education today we find is access to the outdoors on the rivers and the trails and the
trees and in the past students would have their books and their handwriting and their calculations
but they had they had close access to nature so they were complete people
that's what we're trying to give these guys so they also have that that very traditional form
of education all the data points to that even when people have 20 minutes outside
their mental health improves their sense of well-being improves and when we see the rates
of anxiety increasing and depression with our students one of the main things we can give them
to help their minds be free so that they can study well and focus on their studies and their
families is getting them outside and when they're outside more they feel better they feel alive
and then they're able to give themselves to their studies and that's why all the classical studies
always focus on nature and the best scholars of all time the best poets and musicians
and writers were close to nature and that's what we're giving these guys
