So I figured out how to make coffee.
Good morning.
Welcome back to the channel.
If you're new, we're Scarlett and Seth,
and we usually live in a van
with our two cats, Lula and Sasha, but...
This week, we are spending 10 days in Costa Rica.
It's a beautiful place. I can't wait to show you.
I'm very excited for this video.
I hope you enjoy it.
Oh, and pixie reveal.
Oh, yeah.
I cut my hair.
Okay.
But we all saw that coming.
Scarlett's gonna give us a tour.
This is the Toyota 4Runner,
and we have been really, really loving this car so far.
It is so cool.
And such a cool change-up from the van
because we can't do half the things we did in this in our van.
I have really enjoyed just, like, getting back to the basics,
and, yeah, I don't know.
It's just been really fun to, like, get out of my comfort zone.
So, anyways, that's what the front seat is currently looking like.
That's what it usually looks like until we drive.
We've got our backpacks back here,
and we used a bunch of packing cubes
just to kind of try to keep things organized.
Yeah, so that's just backpack storage.
They have these nice, like, organizers here.
We rented this truck camper through a company called Nomad America,
and they gave us everything that we could possibly need to camp in Costa Rica.
We have chairs, all our camping gear, table.
We have recovery equipment, spare tire.
This is Seth's side of the rig.
Yeah, this is my side.
And we've just been buying these jugs of water purificata.
And then we have an awning here, which we have not used yet
because, as you can see, we usually have kind of a setup like this.
Let's head up to the rooftop tent.
Don't mind all the grass in the bed.
I don't know how you avoid that.
It's from our shoes.
As you can see, pretty basic.
They provide you with the pillows, blankets, really everything you need.
I will say the pillows leave something to be desired.
And, yeah, it's been really fun. I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
And then over here, we have our protection.
They gave us machete.
So if you see us out here, don't come around.
Yeah, as far as truck campers go, honestly, this thing is really, really cool.
And we've been enjoying it a lot.
So thanks for coming on the tour.
This is another reality of truck camping that I'm not so used to,
is this is where we change.
This is the Tart Go With the Foe freckle pen.
And it's just like this little pen that has these little freckles on it.
And you just dab it on.
They're little freckles.
I will say, I feel like this is so fun because I know it's only for a short period of time.
The in-life is a walk in the park compared to this.
All right, let's go hike to some waterfalls.
In my pack, I'm bringing our little film camera.
I'm bringing my drone because this is what I have to show you guys, this waterfall.
And, of course, I am bringing the Garmin inReach Mini 3+.
These are super important to have just anytime you're kind of going off the beaten path anywhere, really.
We carry them with us pretty much everywhere in the States as well.
There's a lot of cool features to this one that I will share more with you guys about in a minute.
I'm going to track my activity here on my Garmin Fenix 8.
That's so fun.
Okay, here we go. We're going back.
I don't want to do it no more, boss.
One of the cool things about this Garmin watch is it actually links up to all trails,
so I can keep track of the trail.
You can see that dotted red line right there.
Alright, and in addition to that very tall waterfall,
there are actually several other waterfalls on the property as well,
a lot of which you can swim in.
We're walking over to our third area, but...
We're still the only ones here.
Still the only ones at the campground.
Insane.
This is crazy.
Okay, so you have this huge water slide here,
which is pretty intense.
You got it. Yeah.
Oh, oh God.
The one thing we forgot to bring were towels,
so we're using our very limited wardrobe to dry our hair and our body.
Look, that's where we've been.
I'm going to go ahead and stop the activity here.
Elevation changes.
And here's the heart rate, which is pretty cool to see.
Okay, now unfortunately comes the part of the day that I've been dreading,
which is breaking down this rooftop tent.
It's finished.
Alright, moral of the story, I think this hard-sided ones
that just pop up in a wedge like this
are a lot easier to put away than the folded half ones.
These ones are tough.
So far, this trip has been absolutely incredible,
and there's still a lot to come,
but I want to take a second to talk about Garmin,
the sponsor of today's video,
and tell you why their new Fenix 8 is the perfect everyday companion.
We've both been wearing the Fenix 8 for the last couple months now,
and I actually had the Fenix 7 before this,
and this thing has been absolutely glued to my wrist.
It's a super robust piece of gear
with a titanium bezel and sapphire glass screen
that does not scratch easily at all.
It's also waterproof up to 40 meters,
so we don't have to worry about getting it wet
or jumping off a cliff into a waterfall with it.
I've been averaging a battery life of around 12 to 14 days, usually.
We've been using this watch to track our sleep scores,
HRVs, VO2 max,
and used it while we were running to track our running progress.
The Fenix 8 also comes with some new workouts,
like my personal favorite, motocross,
which has been a lot of fun to track my rides.
And probably my favorite feature of all
is this new flashlight that even includes a red light
that's always right on your wrist.
I thought I would talk about my other favorite product from Garmin,
which is the inReach Mini 3
that uses a satellite network where you don't have service
and, in my opinion, is a necessity for safety in the outdoors.
With this new model, not only can you call SOS
and ping your location,
but you can also send photos and messages
to loved ones while you're off-grid.
Both of these different products right here
have given us a lot of peace of mind over the last several years
as we've traveled to remote locations.
They're also insanely high-quality pieces of gear,
so we can't recommend them enough.
If you would like to check out the Fenix 8 or the inReach Mini 3,
you can click the link in the description box below.
Thank you to Garmin for sponsoring this video.
I could honestly end our trip right now
and be so totally happy and content
with everything we've done,
and it's crazy to think that we're only a third of the way through.
This is only one of our three stops.
Oh, that's shaking a lot.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Is that the Jurassic Park theme song?
Yeah.
Every day we've been here, I'm like,
we have to watch Jurassic Park, we have to watch Jurassic Park.
We haven't watched it yet.
Let's compare hearts.
I'm in zone three right now, 150.
Where are you at?
I'm at 53.
Oh, man, the stairs are, they're brutal.
We're definitely getting our workouts in.
And it looks like we got some more steps in.
My butt is chasing me.
You okay?
Yeah.
If you need to turn around, we can.
No.
This has been a lot of elevation gain here,
and a lot of steps.
Gosh, we made it.
Holy ----.
Yeah, that feels good.
Amazing.
Oh, my gosh.
That was tough.
This is all we have to eat, by the way.
It's two little kids.
I've gone, like, mute.
I don't even...
Dude, that ---- was hard.
All right, shall we?
Let me show them.
Oh, ----.
There's the rain.
It's raining.
It is raining.
Yeah.
I'm not bringing the camera.
Bye.
Currently at 5,473 feet of elevation,
where the clouds actually sit in the trees.
It's a really cool environment here.
Before we start, look around for a small rock that calls to you.
Pick it up and ask permission for it to be your rock
during the upcoming experience.
This rock will serve as support throughout your journey.
Hold the rock near your heart with both hands
and ask the rock to keep all your thoughts and worries.
Bring the rock with you,
and if negative thoughts come up during the walk,
remember to ask the rock to hold them for you.
For dinner tonight, we have some fancy ramen,
which is actually just not fancy ramen,
with onions, a little bit of egg in there,
and some green bell pepper.
I'm going to get a taste test here.
Hot.
Mmm.
It's good, right?
Really good.
Wow.
Yeah, I like it.
Mmm.
It came out nice.
Really yummy.
Okay, we're finally going to watch Jurassic Park.
We've been talking about it this entire trip,
and we have yet to watch it.
And then we're going to head to bed,
but thank you for watching.
If you are not already, please subscribe to the channel.
Leave a thumbs up on this video,
and we'll see you in the next one.
We'll be back to the van and back to our ladies.
I can't wait to see them.
Okay, bye.
