
Ethan Gutmann: The Xinjiang Procedure and China’s Human Rights Crisis
Author, China analyst, and human-rights investigator Ethan Gutmann joined us for a special online speaker event to discuss his new book, The Xinjiang Procedure.
Ethan Gutmann is a Senior Research Fellow in China Studies at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation and co-founder of the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse in China (ETAC). His investigative work has examined Chinese state practices including internet surveillance, the Laogai system, forced organ harvesting, and the relationship between Western business and Chinese security policy.
Mr. Gutmann’s work has appeared in major publications including The Wall Street Journal Asia, The Weekly Standard, National Review, and Investor’s Business Daily. He has briefed the United States Congress, the CIA, the European Parliament, and the United Nations, and has testified before government bodies around the world.
He is the author of Losing the New China and The Slaughter, and co-author of the investigative report Bloody Harvest/The Slaughter: An Update. In 2017, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
