Hello and welcome my name is Elizabeth and in this video we're going to be doing
some early fall decorating and transitioning out of summer decor to cozy up my living room
and dining room for the autumn season which is my favorite so let's get started. So for this first
phase of fall decorating I decided to leave out the pumpkins but I definitely wanted to add in
some more fall foliage so I went up to the attic and I grabbed my fall foliage storage bag here
that I have labeled with a chalk marker. I will link these bags below because I absolutely love
them they work fantastic and they are so much easier to tote up and down three stories versus
a big bulky heavy bin. All right and here are the fall stems that I currently have.
I think all of this was from Hobby Lobby last year these were really popular last year they're
super pretty and some fun bright leaves here and then just some nice wheat. I also kind of
shopped around my house and pulled out some things that I thought would look nice for fall
as you can see a lot of amber glass. In this glass jar I had placed some hydrangeas that I had dried
from some clippings that I took off of one of our plants and so I thought the wheat would look
really pretty in here to give it a little bit of wispiness and some height so that's where I'm
using these wheat stems that I found at Hobby Lobby and on this little thrifted shelf that we
have across from our fireplace above the tv I decided that this would be a good spot for those
magnolia leaves to go this year since they are so beautiful I definitely wanted them to have a
focal point in the living room and by the way you can still get these at Hobby Lobby
they were very popular last year and I think they still are this year they're just so beautiful
and full and very large they make a great statement and this little cabinet is right
next to my fireplace I have just recently brought it out into the living room it was in my laundry
room so I'm enjoying having an extra surface to decorate but I decided to keep this simple
and just use some vintage books in some warm colors and of course I put my newly thrifted
pheasant up here I think he is just perfect for fall and that's just how simple it turned out
I ended up taking the candlestick off and just leaving the other elements there like I said just
to keep it more simple but to bring in those fall colors and now it's time for one of my favorite
things to decorate and that is this antique hutch I absolutely love how it turned out this year
shelf styling was not my strong suit not so long ago so I feel like I've come a long way
on learning how to layer and style little vignettes within a smaller space like this
so I will just turn some music on and let you guys see how I layer up this beautiful old hutch
with amber glasses and just lots of beautiful fall decor items moving on to the dining room
I had a lot of green in here and I wanted to move most of the green decor out and replace it with
richer warmer cranberry tones burgundies golds so let's get started by removing all of these
beautiful green vintage books off of this antique fireplace mantle and by removing the green I also
wanted to remove the green mirror that I had in there and I decided to use this mirror that I've
had for quite a long time I thrifted it surprise surprise and I never found a place for it so
I'm first going to use some chalk paint and get rid of that kind of dated wood tone to it it's
not anything special so it's okay to paint it I promise but I'm just using some Dixie Belle
chalk paint and I'm gonna really quickly paint that up and then we'll do a little bit of wet
distressing and then we will pop it up on the mantle all right well that mirror is painted
that only took maybe five ten minutes one coat and with the Dixie Belle paint it is totally covered
I use the color fluff by Dixie Belle so that will definitely look a lot better I think up there than
that kind of cheap wood I got this at Goodwill quite a long time ago I think I just liked the
columns because I had just gotten this so yeah so now it's going to go up there and I'm trying
to just kind of get rid of some of the green in here and bring in more colors for fall
this picture is really inspiring me found this at a yard sale I just need to find a frame for it
but yeah I love the colors in this so I kind of want to bring these colors out into the dining
room next I am working on this antique buffet that's also in the dining room and I'm clearing
it off of all of the moss balls and everything that's just screams summer that's on it right now
so that we can simplify it and just make it elegant and beautiful for fall I love these
candelabras I think they're so beautiful I found them probably a year or so ago and I've always
struggled on styling them so I do end up eventually taking these away off of the buffet not using them
but I do keep the cloche up and if you stick around and subscribe today you'll get to see my
full home fall decor tour very soon here within the next week or so hopefully
currently was struggling with styling the top of this china hutch in my dining room I knew that
I really wanted to use that piece of art there but I was just having trouble getting it to all
kind of balance and then to be high enough that you could actually see it and that it made a
statement I tend to like to really stack my things on top of my hutches as high up as I can
get them so I was just trying to add height but also make it look balanced and I think I like it
now finally how I have it it's definitely a lot different than it has been for the last
six plus months with just the two baskets and the topiaries
well I hope you're in the mood for some epic fall decorating ideas today because we are practically
going to be decorating my whole home in this video minus the dining room and laundry room
and bathroom which normally bathrooms probably don't get that much attention anyway when it
I hope that you find tons of inspiration that you can gather from this video
and that you find it relaxing and soothing I'll put some beautiful music on for you that you can
just play in the background or maybe you'll be snuggled up on your couch watching this
and just enjoying bringing out all the fun seasonal decor which is what you see me doing
right now I have quite a bit to go through and you're going to go through it with me
and we're going to get it styled and of course I will show you the afters the big reveal of how
everything turns out so I hope that you enjoy this video lots more seasonal decorating to come
make sure that you subscribe so you don't miss anything and give this video a like
all right we have a lot of stuff to work with more than I remember I think that always happens
right but this is going to be for the whole house so I have no excuse not to put a little bit of
fall in every room since I have plenty to work with now but I think this is going to be fun
I absolutely love fall I love the warmth that it brings to the house the coziness
we have so much warm wood in our house that the you know the burned oranges and just all the warm
colors of fall really enhance it and it just is like a big hug so let's get to decorating I'll
show you what I'm doing and show you what I'm using and hopefully you'll get some ideas and
feel inspired to decorate your home for this 2023 fall season these little like maple trees
I got Hobby Lobby yesterday and I thought I could put those up on my mantle and keep that simple
I also got these vases from Hobby Lobby because I love the color this is the color that I want to do
for fall is a sage color and then all the warm tones along with it and then I also got some
leaves here for in the window there in my vase so that's kind of what I'm thinking
in the living room lots of warm tones and then maybe that sagey green
well it's the next day and I'm still working on the decor in the living room and now it's
time to tackle these two big built-in bookshelves uh this is not my favorite thing to decorate it
always stumps me a little bit and it just feels daunting because there's just so many items
on the bookshelves um it's just a balance of trying to figure out what's enough what's not
enough and what feels just right so so I thought for this empty frame I would try and find some
art with a little pop of orange in it and I like to save and collect old books this one I've had
for 15 plus years and it just has um art in it from the renaissance time so timeless classic
beautiful art prints and I'm just going through and finding one that I feel okay cutting into for one
checking the other side of the page to make sure that there's not a picture on that side that I
want to eventually use but that's all you do I sometimes pick up books with pretty pictures in
them at the thrift store and I've done this before and then you just have like a nice little
piece of art in those thrifted frames that you can switch out as much as you want
this old habit's got a hold on me won't let go of me this old habit's got a grip on me
won't set me free won't leave me I can't shake it I can't break it I can't get away from you
I can't shake it I can't break it can't get away from you
you're sweet and low it is too much for me you got me on my knees
I know I should just walk away but your hold on me won't give away
you can't shake it break it get away from you can't shake it I can't break it
get away from you I can't shake it break it get away from you
Okay so here's my big purchase. It's this antique baker's rack. So I do already have
one, you can see it right behind there, but he is just a little little guy and
ever since I moved my buffet out of my dining room that used to be on this wall
it's been looking just a little like empty. It needs something so I found this
baker's rack at the Bay City Antique Mall in Michigan and they are like the
place to go if you want baker's racks because they have quite a few of them
but my mom and I have taken three in the last year so they're missing three now.
They're in our home and the lady that owns the one side, that's our favorite
side of the mall, she can't get these anymore. They just, they don't, obviously
they don't make them anymore and they just, she doesn't have any more so once
they're gone they're gone so she doesn't discount them but they are just so cool
to have. She said this one came from New England from a factory so I need to get
this cleaned up and get it styled and then what I'm gonna do with the other
baker's rack here, let's see if I can show you, this one's actually gonna go to the
third floor to the homeschool room and it's gonna be some much-needed storage
up there so I thought that would look really really cute up there for storage.
I was actually gonna use this big one but then I'm like I kind of want to keep
it in the dining room for a while and use it under these windows here so do
you guys want to get this decorated with me? All right let's do it next. I'll pop
on some music and you can join me.
We'll get there by and by. Stay with me, we're running for the sky.
My soul and healing constellation.
