Hola, my name is Aina and welcome to Tapeo.
Thank you so much for purchasing our Spanish A1 course,
where we cover the basics of Spanish.
You'll learn things like grammar, where we learn verbs and adjectives,
how nouns work, vocabulary, like parts of the house,
or numbers, colors, telling the time, and many, many more things.
Plus, I've added some extras in this.
There's going to be tests, guided worksheets, regular worksheets,
and you're going to get some tips from me, a Spanish teacher,
on not just how to learn Spanish, but on how to learn languages very effectively.
At the end of this course, you're going to get a very good understanding
of how Spanish works.
As I said, we cover the A1 curriculum of the European framework.
So, if you finish this, plus some extra work that you will have to do,
like speaking and making sure that you can write the long text,
you should be able to maybe take a test.
I'm very, very excited to share this journey with you,
and I can't wait for you to succeed.
Please don't forget to leave a review, as it really helps a lot of people
to find our course, and check our social media.
You will find us at Tapeo Spanish in Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
See you very soon during our course. Adios!
Hola! Welcome to this new section where we're talking about school.
It's going to be short and sweet again, as it's only vocabulary.
You will have a worksheet at the very end where you can practice writing these words.
But mostly, when it's about vocabulary, the best way to do it is repetition,
listening and you repeating it.
Writing it a few times if needed be, but what is going to stick the most with you
is the things that you use the most.
So, maybe some of these things you will be using, because I say school objects,
but you might be using them in the office.
So, the more you use these things, the more that they will be useful to you,
and the more that you will remember them.
We're going to get started with this video, where we're going to talk about school objects,
or just office objects. Some of these are just stationary.
Let's go for it.
Goma. Goma.
Means rubber. Goma.
Lapiz. Lapiz.
Again, you can always say lapiz. Lapiz.
And it's pencil.
Bolígrafo. Pen.
Bolígrafo. Bolígrafo.
Cuaderno. Noto.
Cuaderno. Cuaderno.
Libro. Libro.
Regla. Regla.
Ruler. Regla.
Estuche. Estuche.
Pencil case.
Tijeras. Tijeras.
Now, this word, like in English, it means scissors.
So, in English, you've got a pair of scissors.
For us, unas tijeras.
So, it's going to be a plural word, even though it means just scissors.
Sacapuntas. This is my kids' favorite word. Sacapuntas.
Make sure you say the n. Sacapuntas.
It means sharpener.
But my kids always say it sounds like a naughty word.
Sacapuntas. Sharpener.
Calculadora.
Rotulador.
Sharpening.
Pinturas.
Now, in this case, I'm talking about a plural word.
Una pintura.
Coloring pencil.
But we normally have them as a collective.
Pinturas.
Coloring pencils.
Last one. Pizarra.
Now, this is going to be tricky to say because of the sounds that it's got.
Pizarra.
Ball.
Like, it can be a white ball or a black ball.
We just call it pizarra, no matter what it is.
Pizarra.
You could say pizarra to make the R a bit softer and into an S to make it easier for you.
Pizarra.
I'm going to repeat all these words one more time.
As a challenge, if you want, you could try to write these words down and try to see are they masculine or are they feminine.
Or try to make the plural of these words.
Goma.
Repeat.
Rubber.
Lápiz.
Pencil.
Lápiz.
Bolígrafo.
Pen.
Bolígrafo.
Cuaderno.
Noto.
Libro.
Regla.
Ruler.
Estuche.
Pencil case.
Tijeras.
Scissors.
Tijeras.
Sacapuntas.
The naughty word.
I forgot to say that sacapuntas is a masculine word.
And in S it's el sacapuntas.
Sharpener.
Sacapuntas.
Calculadora.
Card paper.
Rotulador.
Sharpie.
Pinturas.
Coloring pencil.
Pizarra.
Bol.
Pizarra.
And that will be all.
And I'll see you on the next video with more words related to school.
Adiós.
Hola.
Welcome to the second video where we'll talk about school subjects.
Now, again, this might not be very useful for grown-ups, but it is if you take some of these words.
It might be useful still for your job or life in general.
You talk about things like that.
Oh, in school I used to really enjoy geography.
I really liked art.
Art as a subject is also just art as a medium, I would say.
And you've got a couple of languages in here as well, so don't tune out.
Right, the first one is matemáticas.
The reason school subjects are really nice to learn as well is because it's a confidence booster.
Most of them are so similar to English that you will guess straight away what they are.
Matemáticas.
Math.
Matemáticas.
Next one.
Ciencias.
Science.
For us, ciencias is plural because we refer to it as all sciences.
Ciencias.
If it's hard to say, say ciencias.
Ciencias.
Next one.
Historia.
In Spanish, when you do that sciences, when you start in your younger years, history, geography are also part of those sciences.
And then you do a bit of chemistry and a bit of history in the same subject.
I don't know if that's how it works anymore, but it's how it used to work when I was in school.
The part of the sciences is historia.
Historia.
History.
Another easy to learn one.
Geografía.
Geography.
Geografía.
Now I'm going to do a couple of languages.
The first one would be Inglés.
Inglés.
That's English.
For me, it was my foreign language, but for you it would be your main language.
Español.
Spanish, again, for me it was my main language, but for you it would be your foreign language.
Francés.
French.
Alemán.
That one's quite different, it's German.
Alemán.
Arte.
Educación física.
Now it translates to physical education, which is basically this.
Educación física.
And now I'll give you two more sciences to end with.
Química.
Biología.
So química was chemistry.
Biología is biology.
I'll repeat the words as we usually do, so stay tuned.
And make sure that you're repeating all these words because it's very important.
Matemáticas.
Ciencias.
Science.
Historia.
Geografía.
Geography.
Inglés.
English.
Español.
Francés.
French.
Alemán.
German.
Arte.
Educación física.
Química.
Chemistry.
Biología.
Biology.
I'll see you on the next video.
Adiós.
Hola.
In this last video, in the third one, we're going to talk about things that we found around the school.
So it's not just places.
It's certain things.
Again, this is technically school things, but most of these things that you can find them elsewhere.
So don't skip this video.
Okay.
So we've got the first one, which is
Patio.
Recreo.
That means playground.
Patio.
Recreo.
Comedor.
That would be the dining hall.
Comedor.
Clase.
It's an easy one.
Clase.
Next one is one that you can find somewhere else.
Gimnasio.
Gym.
Gimnasio.
Baño.
Toilet.
Baño.
Or bathroom.
Baño.
Biblioteca.
Library.
Now, this is a tricky word
because biblioteca
means library, but
libreria, which seems like it's going to be
library, means bookstore.
We're focusing on biblioteca
and I'll remind you about this
close friend in the future
when we do shopping stuff.
Biblioteca.
Library.
Oficina.
Office.
Oficina.
Cafeteria.
Cafe, where you go and
buy your lunch.
Cafeteria.
Taquillas.
Taquillas,
that would be your lockers.
Taquillas.
Then, two things that you most likely
find in school and nowhere else is
profesor.
Normally, profesor,
college or university teacher
or maybe secondary school.
Profesor, profesora,
if it's a woman.
Profesor.
Profesora.
And you call maestro,
maestra.
Now, these would be your primary school ones.
Maestro.
Maestra.
Let's recap all those words.
Patio.
Recreo.
Playground.
Comedor.
Dining hall.
Clase.
Gimnasio.
Gym.
Gimnasio.
Baño.
Bathroom.
Biblioteca.
Library.
Oficina.
Office.
Cafeteria.
Like a cafe or where you buy your food.
Taquillas.
Lockers.
Profesor.
Profesora.
Maestro.
Maestra.
The two ways of saying teacher.
And I'll see you on the next section
because this is the end of this one.
Again, repeat these videos.
Try to say it out loud a few times
and repetition will be the key
for the success of vocabulary learning.
Adios!
Hola! Welcome to this new section
where we're going to talk about feelings.
The first thing that we need to know
when we talk about feelings is
how to use them or what verb
to use them with because you don't go around
saying feliz
or enfadado
like angry, happy.
You say I'm feeling, you're feeling,
I'm feeling, how are you feeling?
Etc.
We'll talk about more
practical examples at the very end
once we've learned all the vocabulary
but before we start I want to point out
what to not do.
We need to say
these feelings
using the verb estar
which means I am.
However, this is
a very, very big problem that we're going to have
not too far away
from now. That means that
there's another verb that also means
I am which is ser
or if you want to say I am
it's soy. You must
never use
these feelings with ser or soy
unless you're talking about
you're trying to describe yourself.
When you're talking about feelings
like I am happy
estoy contenta
because if you say
soy contenta
it makes no sense.
You are a happy person. Fine.
Soy contenta
doesn't work for different reasons but if you say
triste, that one's
my favorite one.
Estoy triste. Now I'm sad.
Right now I'm feeling a bit sad.
But if you tell someone soy triste
you tell them that you're a sad person.
You don't want to go around telling people that
you're a sad person. So think about
that one when you are doing this.
So, again, never
unless you're describing yourself
in exceptions
use soy
from the verb ser. You have to use
estoy or you can also
do me siento.
I'm putting them on the side.
Estoy and
me siento. Estoy means
I am. Me siento means
I'm feeling. I feel.
Estoy
and me siento. I'm making
a lot of emphasis, I know.
That's how important it is.
Estoy. Repeat.
Me siento.
This is our finished video.
I just want you to have that thinking.
Estoy.
Me siento.
And I'm giving you two videos with all the vocabulary.
Adios.
Hola. This is going to be
the first video of the vocabulary
about feelings. I decided to split it
in two because there's a lot and I don't want this to be
too much and too overwhelming.
In any case, you've got
a worksheet with just
the information that you don't have anything
to do. You just have that information
sheet. You can use it to follow
with this or you can just
leave it. Up to you.
Right. Let's get started.
The first one is
contento
or contenta
and you can also use the word feliz.
We've got three words for this one.
It's because contento
and feliz mean the same.
I'm also giving you contenta because you
have to be using, depending
if in this case you're a man,
you use the masculine. If you're a female
you use the female because you are
saying how you're feeling about
yourself or about someone
else. So if it's
a man, it goes with masculine
with o. If it's a woman
you go with a. Unless it's
like feliz which just doesn't have
a gender so feliz goes with man
or woman. contento
contenta
feliz
happy
Next one is triste.
Triste goes to both.
triste
sad
triste. deprimido
deprimida
depressed
deprimido
deprimida
aburrido
aburrida
aburrido
aburrida
enfadado
enfadada
angry
enfadado
enfadada
molesto
molesta
sorprendido
surprised
sorprendido
sorprendida
nervioso
nervous
nerviosa
nervioso
nerviosa
Now I'm going to repeat all of them again
but I will only say them in masculine
just for convenience and to make it
faster. If you just want to know these words
you don't need to repeat the masculine and feminine
because also you know how that works
and I don't.
contento
feliz
happy
triste
sad
deprimido
depressed
deprimido
aburrido
bored
aburrido
enfadado
angry
enfadado
molesto
annoyed. The difference is
that angry is a bit more than
annoyed I would say.
molesto
sorprendido
surprised
sorprendido
nervioso
nervous
nervioso
That will be all. You're going to have one more
video with more feelings
coming. Adios!
Hola! Right, on to the
second batch of
feelings and we'll go just
straight for it. First one
enamorado
in love
enamorado
asustado
scared
asustado
Obviously all of these come
enamorado, enamorada
asustado
asustada
Next one, enfermo
enferma
enfermo
enferma
preocupado
preocupada
preocupado
preocupada
preocupado
preocupada
tranquilo
tranquila
calm
tranquilo
tranquila
avergonzado
if it's hard to say
avergonzada
avergonzado
avergonzada
It's embarrassed
avergonzado
avergonzada
orgulloso
orgullosa
proud
orgulloso
orgullosa
proud
Last one
decepcionado
Again, a bit of a mouthful
decepcionado
decepcionada
decepcionado
Actually, it's a little easy one
decepcionado
decepcionada
disappointed
Okay, like before
I'm going to go through them
and I'm only going to say the masculine version
just for speed and to make the video a bit shorter
enamorado
in love
enamorado
asustado
scared
enfermo
ill or sick
preocupado
a bit like preoccupied, worried
tranquilo
calm
avergonzado
orgulloso
decepcionado
And that's it for now
I'll see you on the next one
Adios
Hola
Now, I know that I said that I put the feelings in two videos
but actually this is an extra
and secret
more feelings
and I've separated them
because these ones work differently
so the ones that we've learned before
go with estoy
o me siento
but the ones that I'm going to show you now
work with tengo
tengo doesn't mean I am feeling or I am
it means I have
in Spanish we're very dramatic
and so instead of being hungry
we say I have hunger
or instead of being sleepy
I feel the sleepiness
or I have the sleepiness, sorry
I have this
I own this feeling
these are just technically more dramatic
but they're just the same
so I'm going to show you these
with all of them we're going to use the tengo at the start
I have
and they're not going to have
a difference between men and women
they're all just going to be the same
so
first one
tengo hambre
I'm hungry
tengo hambre
obviously when you put them together
you know that it all sounds like one
tengo hambre
tengo sueño
I'm sleepy
tengo sueño
tengo frío
I'm cold
tengo frío
tengo calor
I'm hot
tengo calor
this last one is
tengo dolor de
this one technically means
I have pain of
but we would use it if we've injured ourselves
so my shoulder so I think
tengo dolor de hombro
it goes into this category
and we will review
this tengo dolor de
once we do the parts of the body
but for now I just thought I'd throw it at you
so you can just have that one more thing
and it's already start to be in your head
so tengo
dolor de
tengo dolor de
ok
again we're going to go through these few ones
tengo hambre
I'm hungry
tengo sueño
I'm sleepy
tengo frío
I'm cold
tengo calor
I'm hot
tengo dolor de
means I have pain of
see you on the next one
adios
hola
last video of this collection of feelings
we're going to talk about
making sentences
how it would work and then I'll tell you a bit about
what you've got around
to work on these
the first thing I want you to know
is when do you say
all of these
someone asks you
como estas?
which you've learned before
it's fair game to say how you're feeling
oh I'm really happy
because I won the lottery
I wish
so this is something that you would use
como estas? estoy
because we're talking about yourself
estoy
and whatever you're feeling
if you're at the doctor
and he asks you como estas?
me siento enfermo
would be something fair to say as well
it's different situations
where someone would ask you como estas?
you could use estoy, me siento
you can change them
estoy and me siento between one and another
and it would be fine
when you're talking about feelings
then you've got this couple of ones
that we've learned with tengo
that you don't have to worry about masculine or feminine
whereas the other ones
you have to say
if you are a man
you have to say with an o
and if you are a woman you have to say with an a
except if I told you that is an exception
all of it is exceptions
so the few things
that you need to remember
como estas? estoy
me siento
tengo
we've talked about them
it's quite easy
you just put all of these with the feelings that we've learned
now I want to talk to you
about the worksheets that you have
to work on all of these
you've got three things, three resources
the first one is
just a worksheet with information
where you've got all the feelings
both the ones with estoy and the ones with tengo
I've put them only in masculine
but because you know how it works
you can pass it to anyone
the second one you have
it's basically that same one
about the feelings
but you have a word bank
and you've got the faces
with no words
you can either do it with the word bank
or to challenge yourself a bit more
you cover the top
where the word bank is
and you try to do it just remembering
and there's a third
more advanced worksheet
where you make sentences
now it's very guided
there just might be some vocabulary
that you don't know yet
and I don't want you to get too stressed about it
you have got a guide
an example of how to use this sentence
how it works
and you will have to put these words in order
at the bottom, so you've got at the top
a scheme of how it works
then you'll have an example
and then you will have some scrambled words
and you'll mix and match them
to make a good sentence
all you have to do is follow what's at the top
even if you don't know what it means
I think everyone can more or less
do this worksheet
because you've got that
guide on the top
to challenge yourself even more
I've added that you can do translation
obviously of all of these things
you will have the answers afterwards
so you don't have to learn
and that's it for me on this section
I'll see you on the next one
Adios! Hola!
Welcome to this new section
and trap up because it's going to be a heavy one
this section is going to have
a lot of vocabulary related to adjectives
so you can learn these adjectives
but then you're also going to have a full video
about how these adjectives work
as to the agreement
with the noun
so let's not dwell into it
let's start with
physical descriptions
first one, by the way
I'm only going to do it in masculine
because you'll see that some of these
will change into feminine in different ways
the masculine, unfortunately
again it's a bit sexist
but the masculine is the
standard form
or the form before anything
changes, so we always start
from the masculine
that's why I'm doing masculine
and then we'll do the changes
right, first one
guapo
handsome
we don't have a different word for beautiful
it just becomes guapo
guapo
next one
feo
ugly
alto
bajo
short
delgado
thin
gordo
fuerte
strong
débil
joven
young
viejo
old
moreno
with black hair
we don't say you have black hair
you say you are black haired
if that makes sense
and same for all the coming hair colors
black hair
moreno
and moreno can be black hair or brown
hair, you can also say castaño
but moreno would be
about everything
pelirrojo
ginger
pelirrojo
rubio
blonde
and then calvo
calvo means bold
but all of these adjectives, before you get overwhelmed
I'm going to write them down
I'm going to give you a list with a translation
so you don't have to worry about coming back
or writing all of these down
it's going to be somewhere on the side as usual
so you only have to
listen to how I pronounce it
my advice would be to
take the list yourself
you give it a good read
on your own, then re-watch the video
check that you are pronouncing it the right way
because in this case there is a lot of words
unfortunately
now, again, these words
will always go
with the verb ser
soy
if you describe yourself
soy moreno
soy bajo
or if you describe someone else
es
this information, again, will be in your
worksheet
so you don't have to worry about it
but you know, again, in this case
it's not estoy
because it describes you
or someone
if you are describing someone, it's going to be
the verb ser
which again, I've told you
so for yourself, you're going to say
soy guapo
soy feo
or if you're describing someone else
either a man or a woman, es
es guapo
es feo, es alta
es baja
whatever, ok?
now, I'm going to go through the list one more time
and I'm going to do it fairly fast
so we can move on from this video
because you've got that information on your worksheet
let's go over it
guapo
handsome, remember that you have to repeat
and guapa would be beautiful
same word in Spanish
feo
feo, ugly
alto
tall
bajo
short
delgado
thin
gordo
fat
fuerte
strong
débil
weak
joven
joven means young
viejo
old
moreno
rojo
black, or dark
rojo
rubio
blonde
calvo
bold, that would be old
I'm going to see you in a minute for another
video with more vocabulary
if there's any video that you have to just watch today I'm watching this one
next day I'm watching the next one it's these ones because they are again quite
heavy don't worry about it take your time I'll see you very soon
adios
