You guys, we are traveling.
Well, first of all, today is Wednesday.
It's been almost three weeks since we came to Tennessee, which is crazy.
I cannot believe it's been three weeks.
Where has time gone?
It seems longer, though, doesn't it?
Like I feel like it seems like a long time ago, but we're having a good time.
And so today we decided we're going to head to Alabama.
We're going to go see our friends at David Christopher's.
We love David and Jen.
And just a little back story.
So I used to be a buyer at a store in Kansas.
And on 2016, on our last trip, it was the last day.
My boss had spent all of the budget.
And so we decided to go to the temporaries, which is where most of these
people don't yet have a showroom, show their products.
And out of the corner of my eye, so these beautiful penguins.
And so we went to see them.
And sure enough, we got them for the store.
And that's how I met David and Jen.
That's 10 years ago.
Can you believe that time does fly when you're having fun?
So we're going to go in there.
We're going to see what they have available for Christmas.
We're going to get some product to start working here on our new apartment.
And so we're going to go travel and see what they have.
So we'll make sure that you guys say hi to them as we are there.
So stay tuned.
All right, you guys.
So we are at the gas station right now.
We're going to get some gas.
We're going to get on the road, stop and get some breakfast.
We have a three hour drive all the way to Sheffield.
And we'll see you guys when we get there.
We're going to show it.
We're going to share with you all of the beautiful things
that David Christopher's has at their warehouse, so keep watching.
All right, so we stopped for some lunch and
it's hot, it's hot.
Another fun fact, every time we see Arby's, we stop
because for the longest time in California, we didn't have it.
And so now we stop in this middle of nowhere town.
Where are we?
I believe it's Columbia.
Columbia, Tennessee, to get Arby's.
We're halfway there almost.
So we're going to keep driving, eat our lunch and we'll see you guys soon.
We have arrived in Sheffield, Alabama, at the David Christopher
collection wholesale customer only state tax ID.
So we're going to go inside.
We're going to go say hi to Jen and David, and we're going to share with you guys
and show you around some of the Christmas themes.
And then also I'm here to get some spring items so that we can keep going
with our Christmas, I'm sorry, with our spring collection for 2026.
So let's go in.
We brought in a lot of fruit last year, very metallic gold fruit.
And then we started using a lot of pomegranates and pomegranate
branches on trees with berries.
And I feel like I feel responsible for the fruit.
Yeah, because I, I liked it.
I think I just got to a point where I really liked the fruit
and I wanted to use a lot of it.
And when it came in, I was like, we've got tons of fruit.
I'm going to have lots of it to use.
And we sold it so fast after we did just a little bit with it.
And show people how to use it.
And I was like, oh, well, this is this is like people are ready for this.
So do you think it's because it's such a classic look?
I mean, it is like a what is it like a Georgian style?
Yeah, it's good.
We consider this Williamsburg.
Yeah. Like so very, very berries and fruit
and a lot of red mix into it.
So we're using a lot of that.
And for for what I think is personally, I feel like a lot of people
went very light color.
People people went to when we're doing like flocked trees and pastels
and that's kind of well and like silvers and just a little bit of gold.
Yeah. Well, you consider because I didn't see any a market.
I think it's I think it's OK for some places, but at the same time,
I think that even in houses like houses were white,
like white walls, white cabinets, light floors, you know,
and maybe a little gray, but they were so washed for so long.
I think people are craving color.
Yeah. And I think that craving for color is kind of where we came out with this
is is they wanted that like natural feel,
because I feel like natural wood and things like that are like
we were talking about natural brick and natural wood is so popular.
Yeah. People really want that feel that this really embellishes that.
This really like makes that pop. Yeah.
It's such a classic look to me.
It's like Christmas is always going to be about the reds, the greens, the golds.
And yes, like to me, at least the pastels was a trend.
And for me, because I was when I first met you 10 years ago,
which these years, 10 years ago, I met you guys in 2016 when you guys were in the temps.
So to me, what I've noticed in the past 10 years of going to market
and buying for different stores is that a trend comes in
and stays for like at least four years.
So you see a first.
And if he if he becomes popular, then of course the sellers will add to it
and they'll add to it.
But because it is a trend, it doesn't last very long to wear.
Something like this is more classic and more traditional.
And at the end of the day, at least for me, Christmas is always about
the traditional and the classic, especially here in the South.
Like I was telling you earlier, the brick houses with it, with the greens behind.
And then you add that layer of greenery and plot and nothing says Christmas
more to me than that.
And so I love this look because the gentleman that taught me everything
that I know about Christmas, he was very traditional.
His name was also David.
He was very traditional.
And every year he decorated his house in this sort of theme.
But it was always different.
So there's a lot of ways to use this fruit and decorating for Christmas.
There is. Yeah, it's also a stunning.
I love the I mean, the orange just pops from it.
And what are those clementines there?
Yeah, they're like mandarin oranges.
And then we've got like pomegranate branches in the tree, too.
So there's pomegranates, pears, apples, and they're in natural colors,
but they're also in metallic golds.
So we've got that like elegant factor.
And the gold really like makes it so festive.
Is this ribbon like two sided or is it just gold?
It is exactly the same on both sides.
Wow, you guys, check this out.
It looks almost like a gold leather.
It is. Is it?
Well, I don't think it's actually leather, but it's a look.
That's what it looks like.
It is so beautiful.
And that that burgundy, almost red burgundy cherry
looking flocked ornament is so pretty.
Yeah. So we're using a lot of that kind of like a deep brick red.
OK. Yeah.
When I have my brick house is what I want.
Can you imagine this and then the matching banister and the matching mantle
and a beautiful tablescape like that's all you need for Christmas
and a beautiful swag on your front door and a beautiful swag on your mailbox?
I mean, because to me, it's like that's how you should decorate.
Not that I'm trying to tell you how to decorate your house,
but I feel like you should stick with the same theme from the outside
all the way through because it makes your house look so cohesive.
Yeah. For the most part, if you can, if you can.
Occasionally there's like a room that's, you know, not exactly the same.
And we try to like.
So we for instance, like if there's a room that's got some blue colors in it,
we've even got a tree that's got blues with lemons on it
so that it can kind of bring some of those elements.
And it's got golds and the lemons kind of like we have on this tree.
But at the same time, it's got it's got a lot of blues on it, too.
OK, we're trying to bring in some of those elements from the other parts.
Yeah. The reason why we're here, you guys, is because I asked David
what was one of the things that has been selling good for them.
So he said the fruit.
And then that's how we find out that he's one of the precursors
of the fruit for this year's holiday.
And watch is going to be not just this year, because if it did so well,
I'm hearing from you and I heard a market, then that means that for the next few years
was just going to increase the way that is shown
and the way that is used for the holidays.
And it really is so beautiful.
Yeah, it's a good year to get in on it because it's it's very fresh, very early.
And like you said, you can use it for more years to come.
Yeah. And if you do have like a business, if you're a wreath maker,
you're a designer, do art form one, this is going to be really hot.
Just how last year it was.
You know, it was like the Ralph Lauren look, which to me is just traditional.
But people call the Ralph Lauren.
And it's crazy because and I have the receipts to show it.
Last year I was invited to the Las Vegas market to do a vignette.
And I did like I in my mind was inspired by Ralph Lauren.
It was in blue walls, lots of plaids and like on the table, on the tree.
So in black and white horse pictures.
And then the same year later on, it's like, oh, the Ralph Lauren
theme is like really trendy. Yeah.
So I told the people that I work with, I see I got it right.
And this year I know the fruit is going to be a very prominent theme
for the holidays. Yeah.
So show us something else that you that you that you guys are doing.
So, well. Oh, yeah.
Well, I'm I love this look also.
Oh, yes. I love the deep greens with this kind of a sage.
And these are glass, you guys.
You are really good at doing glass ornaments.
You guys have sent me some and I still have them, obviously,
some beautiful glass ornaments.
I love the blue ones.
Remember those are like a baby blue that you had.
There were also and then also some red ones.
And what I like a lot is because they have different shapes.
You have like your finial, your ownership, your bowl.
And it is so beautiful.
I love this minty green.
What would you call this?
We call this Highland Christmas.
It's kind of it kind of reminds me we went to Scotland a couple of years ago
and it's got kind of that gray green feel to it.
So we've got a little bit of like a natural touch eucalyptus,
but we've also got like a lot of deep greens
mixed into it.
So a lot of dark green, but we use some of the sagey greens,
basil greens to kind of once again, these flock ornaments.
You guys, they're really, really I don't want to say popular right now
because I hate the word they're popular right now, but they're really hot.
They're really hot.
And I love that gray color. It goes so well.
And I think that one of the reasons why this looks so beautiful
is because of the color of the Christmas tree.
It has that gray undertone that goes so well with the sage and the grays.
And so this is like what someone like David is always.
I'm sure you're thinking about all the details, right? Yeah.
Because if you were to put this in a regular Christmas tree,
then you will lose a lot of the detail.
Yeah, I find that especially like in the dark greens.
Once you start with a dark green tree,
if you just add dark greens onto it, you lose most of that.
So if we use a lighter color tree and then add our dark greens,
they really stand out.
Or if you're going to do like reds with dark greens,
a layer of red first and then adding your greens
kind of on top of that on outer layer.
So it is like it's like a layering effect.
And I really wish that I could get into David's brain
to think about the process, because it is a process,
not just like something, something that you're like slapped together.
It's like he has to think about every layer when they're coming up
with these themes, and it's just absolutely gorgeous.
OK, so let's check out this other one that also has some clementines.
This is really pretty, too.
Yeah, so we love that.
This is kind of a transitional tree for us.
So we do kind of like a fall tree where we've got some oranges
and different things in it, and we may even add like some of our fall
picks into that, and then we'll kind of dress it up,
make it a little bit festive for this.
Remind me of your old money thing.
Yeah, it's kind of like a similar
progression of it.
And I also love the way that he did this big branches right here.
They're just like come out of the tree and then give you that
that layering effect.
Your eye.
That's one thing I like about when I decorate people's trees
is like to create that effect to where your eye keeps traveling inside the tree
and it just you find things all the way along the way.
And then it allows me to kind of highlight ornaments
because they're going to stick out from the tree more so
once I've got those longer branches to work with.
Now, for those who you may not know right now, this is David with David Christopher.
He and Jen have a awesome YouTube channel.
So that's where you can watch David every week,
not only during the holiday season, but all year.
Well, he's like, I tried to he's a man that wears many hats.
So he tries to and Jen to put out a video every week to teach you guys
how to do things like this.
And that's where I personally have learned some tips and tricks
on how to do what I do.
Like I said, I've known about them for 10 years,
not a whole decade of David Christopher's in my life.
And I really do enjoy watching.
I know I'm like most of you.
Not always do I comment, but I'm always watching.
So I have learned a lot.
And this is one of the things that I've learned, like how he always
and nobody does it like you do.
You know, I can I can watch the video and try and do it.
But really, nobody does it.
I think when you are the person who comes up with it, like I can.
It's almost like in Mexico, we say that I can give you the recipe,
but I cannot give you the seasoning.
You know, you can follow the recipe,
but it's never going to taste the same way that if I did it.
That's a good thing.
Yeah, it's like the same with decorating.
That's why I love teaching,
because I know that I can teach you everything that I know,
but it's never going to come out the way I do it.
Yeah, it's always going to be different with someone else's flair on.
Yeah, and I think that's why I always encourage you guys
to like get inspired by it, but put your own twist on it.
So that way you can say it's mine and not like I copied it from.
Right. You know.
All right. Let's see something else.
I want this one right here.
So we're doing a lot of split trees because
we we're trying to save space
and use one Christmas tree to show two different themes.
OK, hang on. Let me stop you right there,
because when I first met David and Jen at Market, that is the one thing.
James, if you want to actually shoot right here.
That is the one thing.
And it was set up like this.
That is the one thing that I saw.
And that's what made me stop.
Yeah, because you guys had this set up.
Remember, there was like these pallets and then the tree was right here
in the corner and one side was one theme and then the other side was the theme.
Later on, I find out that it was because you were trying to say
that this space was small. Right.
So you had to put up as much or as many themes.
So that was a creative way to do it.
So they have replicated that here and it looks so cool.
I love this. I love this display idea.
Yeah. So when you're doing 20 different themes and you don't have as much space,
you only have space for 10.
Yeah, we're only going to put 10 or 12 trees up.
Hey, James, how are you?
Come say hi. You're on camera.
Sorry. Surprise. Surprise.
How you been?
Been doing well. Good, good.
Well, we're talking to the people on the YouTube.
And we were just telling them how.
Actually, it's been 10 years since I first met you guys.
And we just landed here.
And no, it hasn't. It was 2016. Yeah.
I remember we bought the paintings that year.
And I was just telling David that this is exactly what made me stop,
because I don't know if you remember, but we do that.
You guys displayed it like this and the tree was at the end
and it had a theme on one side and a theme on the other one.
So that's what made me stop.
And then we started browsing there.
And that's when we found the penguin.
So 10 years ago.
I do. To this day, I do.
We're going to bring him back.
You should. You should.
Yeah. And the way we displayed him is like we did a we did out of styrofoam.
We did a slide around the tree.
I have pictures of it.
And then we put him like this and like this.
And there were sliding.
And then the edge of the of the it was like an icicle that went around the tree.
And it was a big display.
And it was inspired, I mean, from the wreath outside on the shop.
So when you first walk in, it was like all white and black and white
with silver because of the penguins.
Was that the year that Sarah Jessica Parker was in?
The show was in the showroom and was like, this is so cool.
With the tree on this side is like all crystal.
The tree on the side.
She posted it on her Instagram.
Oh, that's what she did.
Her team did like it was her page.
Yeah, there was a there was a crew.
Yeah, there was a crew with her.
But someone share our team shared with us that she had posted on her page.
You probably like just missed her.
Oh, maybe, maybe I would have not known who she was back then.
I know now.
But yeah, that's awesome.
So I was just telling David that fruit this year was going to be.
I know you're doing so good with it, but I saw it on market
and we got to find out that David is to blame for the fruit
because he loves that traditional look.
Yes, I do.
Yes, but he does like the traditional.
We talked.
We've we've tried a lot of different versions of the traditional
everything from the tinsel.
Yeah, like the retro, like like my grandmother growing up.
I remember.
Yeah, the tree that we used to put up, it was an artificial tree.
And then we'd put these big bulbs all around the tree
and it would have like all that silver tinsel hair.
Yeah. On it.
And we just kind of like, you know, as a kid, we were just throwing it
like a big clump of hair that really dedicated to put it to where
like the whole tree is covered in it.
Yeah.
And all I'm thinking when I see that is like how they're going to clean that after
because it gets attached to it.
Yeah, it was fun for us as kids.
Yeah, but it's awful to clean up.
Yeah, but it's it really reflects off those big multicolor bulbs.
And yeah, you know, as a kid, it's just like it's so it's so I feel like
it's so iconic and so nostalgic, you know, because even I growing up,
I was really, really poor.
But the one Christmas that we had, you know, the tree was like this little.
And I love telling this story.
I don't know if I told you or not before, but my mom put that little.
My mom was very like kind of grinchy.
But I now as an adult understand, because when you have four kids
and you're poor, you know, there comes Christmas, you don't have money.
And so about that one year, she bought a four foot tree
and but she put it on top of a chest of drawers.
So to me, it looked magnificent.
And then like we put that tinsel stuff in and they had like the multicolor lights.
And I don't know if you remember,
but back then there was this light that had like this like star
that if you find it on the phone, you step on it was like, oh, very painful.
Yeah, very painful.
So that's the lights that he had on.
And then one time my mom was not having a good day.
Like I said, now as an adult, I understand, you know, I don't have kids
and I cannot imagine what it's like to have four or two years apart and Christmas.
And so she was not having a good day and she janked that tree out of the wall
and she marched it outside on our big old trash can.
And she put it outside and the whole time I was following her.
And so I was thinking, Chris, the only year that we have
like four days before Christmas, it was like, no.
But now that's why I love decorating Christmas trees for for the holidays,
because every year I remember that story and I was like, now I get to do it.
OK, you are. So today is Sunday.
It is about 11 o'clock at night.
11 o'clock, James just got home from work
and we got a really loud alarm.
Apparently, there is a tornado warning.
The sirens are going off.
I want to flip the camera around.
Oh, my God. OK.
That's crazy.
Oh, my goodness.
It's going like multiple directions.
Look, this one's going that way.
That was going that way.
The sirens are still going off.
What do you think about the tornado?
Well, the sirens are going off and the wind's changing in different directions
and the rain's coming in different directions.
So I mean, my food first, something happens.
You want to go with a full belly?
Yeah. Do you love it?
Oh, yeah. I love being inside of a tornado warning.
Jameson, you grew up in Kansas.
Yeah. And the sirens never went off.
They did, too.
Well, they did, but not when it's, you know, right in where we are.
You never seen a tornado?
Lots of tornadoes all my life. Yeah.
Sirens, too, but the wind changes like this all the time.
So I don't know. We're new here.
The only tornado I've ever seen is on the Wizard of Oz.
We're off.
