Today we're mixing the Death by Sex cocktail combines the clean bite of vodka with juicy peach schnapps, smooth Southern Comfort, rich berry notes from sloe gin, and the nutty sweetness of amaretto. Finished with cranberry and orange juice, this cocktail is vibrant, dangerously easy to drink, and perfect for parties.

Welcome to booze on the rocks.
My name is David Edwards, and it's great to have you here today.
We're going to make the death by sex.
Now this is a cocktail.
It's going to give you a bit of a punch in the face because it has more
alcohol in it than it does the juices.
So, you know, be a little bit leery about this.
However, the big question is, would you rather have death by sex or death by sex?
I know what I'd prefer to leave a comment down below.
Um, so there's a fair amount of ingredients as you can see here.
Now we start with a little bit of vodka.
I'm using some Finlandia.
It's 40% ABV.
You need some peach snaps or schnapps.
Uh, I'm using a Dr.
McGillicuddy's.
This is 21% ABV.
You need some Southern comfort.
This is 35% ABV and of course a little bit of the slow gin.
Now this is Heyman's and it's 26% ABV.
We'll finish that up with a little bit of Amaretto and I'm
using a little bit of Luxardo.
This is 24% ABV.
Now the juices that we have for this cocktail start with a little bit
of ocean spray, cranberry cocktail, and this is the tart ocean spray
or the tart cranberry juice.
Uh, if you have an allergy to this, I would use pomegranate juice.
It'll give you fantastic flavor with the same tartness and you
need a little bit of orange juice.
I'm using some Tropicana.
Uh, if you have a citrus allergy, use pomegranate juice to continue out
or some watermelon juice, and that'll work really well in this cocktail as well.
We are going to start this with your shaking vessel and your vodka, and
you're going to start with an ounce and a half or 45 mils, your second
ingredient is your peach snaps.
Now, one of the questions that I will ask you is how would you adjust this
ratio wise or ingredient wise to get the flavors that you want?
And you're going to use a full one ounce or 30 mils.
We're going to follow this up with your Southern comfort.
Now you don't need a lot of the next three ingredients.
We're going to start with half an ounce or 15 mils.
Your fourth ingredient is going to be your slow gin.
Now this is a, an ingredient you don't see as used as often, and you'll
find some that are very bright red.
Those are usually artificially colored.
Uh, we're going to use the same amount of a half an ounce or 15 mils.
We're going to follow this up with your Amaretto.
And as I said, I'm using the Luxardo here.
You'll use the same amount of a half an ounce or 15 mils.
All right.
Now we're going to move on to your juices.
And having said that the recipe technically calls for a splash of each.
Um, having said that I'm going to define my splash to three quarters of an ounce,
which is a little bit more than a splash.
And that works at the 22 and a half mils.
And again, we're going to do the same thing for the orange juice, three
quarters of an ounce or 22 and a half mils.
Your next step is to shake this with ice.
So we're going to fill the glass.
And you just want to make sure that when you slap your lid on here and it's not
a lid, it's your shaker, you make sure you get a good seal.
Ooh, that would have been bad.
Let's try this again.
And you want to shake that for a good eight to 10 seconds.
And we're going to put this off to the side here and
grab your favorite rocks glass.
I'm using a 12 ounce, 360 mil glass.
And we're going to add some fresh ice and we'll just pour it in.
And this is death by sex.
It's a sort of a burnt orange looking color.
Um, it looks pretty good though.
I'd give this about a flat eight.
Yeah.
Full eight out of 10, really good, strong.
Um, you get the peach, you get a little bit of the combination of the Southern
comfort, the slow gin and the Amaretto.
They all work really well together.
You don't actually get a lot of the juice flavors, uh, but it actually
holds it all together really well.
It's strong.
It's going to give you a kick, uh, easily.
I'm going to call this an 8.7 out of 10.
Um, I'd still prefer death by sex.
However, if you like cocktails like this, take a look after the
recipe card right over here.
