What's up everybody, welcome back to another drawing tutorial.
A mane coon cat. Definitely want to like the coon out there.
So let's give it a go. I'm on a landscape page.
Use a pencil and an eraser and hit pause if I go too fast.
So the center point of my page is about here.
I put the head up a little bit higher, above halfway, right.
We'll just get the mane, just to get like that mane, you know.
So center point here, we're just going to come up
and do the eyes in this area, okay.
So cat eyes, let's go.
So we curve up and over, kind of like flick out at the end.
And then we go down around and out to a spike, just here.
That's the shape we're dealing with.
And then iris, just a circle that sort of comes around here, right.
It's so big, it like touches just the edge of the eye there, like this.
And then a very thin cat sort of eye.
You know that sort of very thin sort of spike coming down like so.
So sometimes what I like to do in these sorts of portraits
is add a highlight, right, a white dot.
You could do it with paint as well if you wanted after your color.
And then maybe some shadow.
Just in with these like dots and dashed lines,
just underneath the eyelid, just to make it look a little bit dark.
Okay, all right.
And then we just go black around that gold yellow.
So well, depending on what color you want to do the eyes.
You could do gold blue, might be good, icy blue.
Black around really makes them stand out.
So the other eye, you're about eye width across.
So like the width of the eye will fit sort of in between both.
And so this, like this width fits across here.
Just about like maybe to like, maybe not the flicky part, you know,
not the spiky bit, like the main part of the eye will fit in between both eyes.
And then you just do that same thing again, right.
You just like curve it up and over.
And then add a little flick at the end.
And then we'll go down the bottom and to a spike just here.
In our eye, curving around here, just a big sort of golden eye.
And then that thin sort of cat-like spiky eye going down there.
And then your highlights.
So I'll do it like the same side.
So imagine like the lights going like up here.
So that means your highlight will be here on this side.
And then we'll just add some hatching, some shades,
just little tiny little dashes coming across the top here
and maybe down the side as well, little curvy ones.
And we just color black around like so.
So then our nose, right.
So the cats sort of, cats have this kind of flat
kind of nose that comes down this way, right.
So kind of like the eyes join to the nose.
And roughly your nose will be, so you have this equal triangle.
So the distance between the eyes is the same distance between each eye and nose, right.
So you've got this sort of triangle, an equal triangle
between the three sections of the face, right.
So you can measure if you want.
So you could use a ruler.
You could measure there and then you turn your ruler
and then you sort of get that same distance down to the middle of the nose, right.
Roughly, it doesn't have to be exact.
So there's about six on mine.
Six goes down to like, no, it's like the middle.
So the middle of the nose, say like the line there, right.
And then our nose comes across, bumping across like that.
And then we have the nostrils, the sides just here,
comes down to like a point.
You can fix around the edge, the corner there.
And the nostril is a little bit darker.
So there's like a little hole just in there, okay.
And you can do just like some little bits of fur lines just going up
the center of the head like that, right.
And we have some fur details around the eyes as well, right.
So a mane coon has, well, this one doesn't even,
it has like a little sort of like a whisker sort of section
or like a section of fur just like here on top of the eye,
like that sort of thing.
And it's kind of curves around here.
It's kind of furry and sketchy on that side.
Eyelid sort of lines back here.
Same on this side.
And then we've got like an eyelid line on the bottom as well.
This way.
So underneath the eye, like so, right.
And you can add as much sort of hairy furriness as you want to these.
Okay, so the mouth then.
So it comes out here and again, right out the middle
and then it curves around, right.
And it can be real furry, you know, because it's a mane coon.
So sketchy sort of line curving around that way.
Just like this, like so.
And then our whiskers come out from here.
We've got these sort of black circles just coming across here.
Right, like so.
So his head is like just all fluffy, right.
So you can't really see much in terms of structure of the face.
Maybe you could just see like some fur kind of just going this way around, right.
And then the chin, sort of a little hairy chin coming around here.
That's like dark inside here.
Little chin, just all these fluffy.
Okay, so yeah.
So then it's just like loads of fur, okay, from the ears.
So the ears start like here, right.
So we got like all these ears kind of start crossing these eyebrows or sections, right.
Okay, that's all mane fur.
So we get the ears in the top of the head.
Then we do the outside of the fur and then like add some fur lines inside.
So the ear kind of bumps here, right.
And then goes around a little section there, okay.
And then the other ear, same sort of thing.
So it goes this way.
So this is like all like hair.
I'll start to like be all furry and stuff here.
We'll do that in a second.
We'll just finish the ear.
Okay, so roughly same on both sides.
And then we've got like furry head line just coming across here.
Around the face, so it all starts to like
get big lines made.
So we've got like some hair that goes, grows like into the ear.
And so like across the bottom and like into the ear here.
It's all like a little fluffy and furry.
There's like an edge to the ear, right, kind of like that.
There's lots of hair and stuff growing in there.
Across the head.
And then same on the other side.
So we've got like an edge line on the inside of the ear.
And then this becomes like all just like fur.
So now this big crazy mane, right.
So let's give this a go.
We're going to go, we'll do a couple of layers maybe.
So we'll do one like coming down and then goes out a bit further.
So then we'll just come around like this, right.
So it's real fluffy, you can do it as fluffy as you want.
And we've got like some stuff hanging down in the middle of his chin as well.
Around the head here.
And then we'll go in here.
Okay, so you just add like these sorts of spikes in like furry sections.
And then it all just sticks out.
So
basically a big lion's mane.
And it goes like all the way down towards the belly even.
Like it's real big down here.
It's a cool looking animal.
Well, I think so anyway.
Yeah, let me get down here.
It's just like more mane and stuff.
Right, and you could have like layers of this.
You can keep building up the textures as long as you want really.
Okay, maybe some like coming from behind the head just there as well.
Okay, so then the cat's kind of sitting so we can see a shoulder going this way.
And it's like shorter fur, right?
So it's like just a little sort of elbow sort of going out this way.
Down there and then the front of that paw goes that way.
And then the front paw will be sort of here somewhere.
And the back leg is the hind leg.
So we'll go front paw just there.
You can't really see much, but just there.
And then maybe like the hind leg there.
And then the back sitting so we're just hunched over.
Maybe like the belly, the hind leg and stuff.
Right, and that's really all you have to draw and then you colour.
And what I'm going to do is just darken up some of my lines, right?
I'm just going to thicken up some of the edges and like the fur here on the side.
Right, and I actually forgot there's hair on the top of the ear as well.
There's kind of these little things that stick up here on top of the ear.
Right, like so.
And then whiskers, of course.
I forgot whiskers.
Sometimes they have ones just like sticking up here as well.
Okay, but I think that's the best I can do.
That is how to draw a Maine Coon cat.
Hope it was helpful.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video.
Bye.
