Hello from the British Museum. I'm John, the new Senior Video Producer here at the British Museum.
You wouldn't have seen me before, but you would have seen some of the things I've produced for
the YouTube channel throughout the years. I'm finally appearing in front of the camera to tell
you the exciting news that we are approaching our 100th episode of Curator's Corner. It's been over
10 years and 99 episodes since Irving Finkel graced your screens to tell you about the rulebook
to the Game of Ur. We could only have made it this far because of you guys watching and supporting
the channel, so it feels only right that for the 100th episode we'll give you the chance to decide
which object we focus on. So if you know of an object in the collection that is woefully
underappreciated, has an amazing story to tell, or is wonderfully obscure, then please let us know
down in the comments. We'll then read all of your comments, take all of your ideas, see which ones
are possible, and then choose one that will feature in our 100th episode of Curator's Corner.
And whilst you wait for that to be made, here's a sneak peek at what we've got coming up on the
channel. I will be taking you on a journey across the UK to look at a recent breakthrough in
discovering the earliest evidence of human-made fire that rewrote human history. We also have more
Mike Nilsson, our amazing replication specialist. Following the success of his gladiator helmet
videos last year, we're showing you his workshop where he makes his replicas, and he's going to
tell you a little bit more about what a replication specialist does, the history of the role, and a few
other examples of what he has made. And continuing our object passport series, we have the story of
an Egyptian funerary boat that's been on three journeys, most recently from London to Mumbai.
Don't worry, we are getting Irving back on the channel as soon as possible, and we're working
very hard to make that happen. And trust me, it will be worth the wait. I'll be back with more
updates soon, but don't forget to tell us what you want to see for the 100th episode
of Curator's Corner in the comments below.
