Health officials are monitoring a rare and deadly haunted virus outbreak
linked to a recent cruise. 22 news reporter sarah bianna may joins us live
in studio with how rodents can spread this type of disease. Christina Sierra.
So far, three deaths and over 10 cases of haunted virus have been confirmed
from that cruise originating near Argentina. And a local pest expert
tells me deer mice, field mice and white footed mice carry a strain of it
to mice and rats simply don't show any symptoms, but they can definitely make
you sick. The disease can be spread through droppings, urine, nesting
materials and contaminated services. Luckily, there is a way to keep the
rodents outdoors.
Just making sure your your homes and your buildings are well sealed because
these things are outdoors, kind of living in wooded areas and then coming
in, especially in the fall in the winter when it's very cold and they're
looking for shelter now to safety clean up after the rodents. Natasha advises
everyone to wear a mask and gloves, then sanitize the area. And if you happen
to feel sick, she advises seeing a doctor because up to 38% of people who
develop haunted virus can die working for you. Sarah Ben Amei 22 News
