Hey guys, Thomas Baca Barber back with another video, the three secrets to barbering.
Let's get right into the video and let's get right to secret number one.
Secret number one is always be there.
Always be in the shop.
You know, always be there under every circumstance.
If there's five barbers there, you know, you're the fifth one.
Then you always be there.
You know, from bell to bell, if they're open six days a week, try to be there six days
a week.
These three secrets that I'm going to give you are going to enhance your barbering game
and build your clientele very fast.
So always be there.
You know, something about always being there is to bridge that gap, you can bring a lunch.
A lot of barbers will, uh, a lot of barbers will, uh, you know, go to lunch, do this and
not feel that they've earned the right to go to lunch.
I don't go to lunch at all.
I bring my lunch even, and I'm well established, uh, but to establish yourself, bring a lunch,
man.
Hit a quick sandwich.
Uh, you see someone walking in the door, wash your hands real quick, get ready, uh, nine
times out of 10.
If the barber went to lunch, one of the clients walks in the door and says, uh, Hey, uh,
is Johnny here?
Uh, you know, Hey Johnny, went to lunch.
Hey, can you, uh, cut my hair?
And you cut their hair, uh, dedication.
You know what I mean?
So, uh, clients will notice that you're always there.
So clients will notice that you're always there.
That's a good thing.
Clients that notice that you're always there, uh, once they notice you're always there,
they're like, Oh wow, that's reliability.
So if anything slips up with her barber, you become the next thing.
If you're always there, a walk-in walks in, you take the walk-in and so, uh, always be
there.
Uh, always being there also ties hand in hand with that.
It's a, it falls under a discipline.
So always being there just shows the customers that you have discipline.
So in this undisciplined industry, you want to show a lot of discipline.
So a lot of thing with the barbering industry is a lot of barbers are lazy.
They, you know, cause they're, they're making their own schedules, doing whatever they want.
If you can be the exact opposite of that, uh, then, then, you know, you'll start to
win.
So let's move.
Uh, Hey guys, real quick, before we move on to secret number two, and you'll want to wait
along for secret number three, uh, guys like, and subscribe, uh, if you like the channel,
subscribe to it.
Let's get some more subscribers and, uh, reach a bigger audience.
You know, if you guys like what I do, uh, if you like, like the video, if you like what
I do, if you like it, but anyway, let's get onto the second secret.
And, um, the second secret is going to be, uh, use good tools.
So, uh, you know, you must use good tools.
They say, I will, you know, I, he buys a pair of a $30 scissors.
Let me show you a difference real quick.
Hang on one second.
Watch.
I'll grab something for you and show you.
You can see me walking back here and I'll, uh, grab this stuffs over here in the third
station.
You know, I'll show you something real super quick.
Uh, this is, uh, watch, I'll show you right now.
And so guys use good tools.
This is the thing I've heard before.
Like, uh, the barber says, oh, I could, uh, you could, uh, or I could a homes.
I can get those same shoes for 30 bucks.
It's like, you can't get these years for 30 bucks there.
Look, if you can get these shares for $30, I'll buy a thousand pairs of you.
But I'm just saying these are Mizutani shares.
This is just one aspect of my tool game.
I have clippers.
I've straight razors.
I'm just going to use this as an example.
I, you know, this is one way of using the best.
And so, yes, you can get a pair of $30 scissors.
Uh, they're going to produce a haircut, a $30 haircut.
And so you can get some good scissors and, uh, you know, and they'll produce, uh, something
different.
Also, what I like to say is, uh, you know, good scissors, good clippers, good tools in
general, good spray bottles.
You have a great spray bottle.
You go to spray the client's hair.
It's not, uh, you know, it's not, not working or, you know, the clippers you use are good.
Um, look, here's the thing with using good tools.
Uh, people start to catch on to good tools and, uh, you know, your clients start to notice,
uh, Hey, he's got new tools.
He's got good tools.
His tools look nice.
Uh, they perform well.
Uh, that's another reason to sit with you, uh, using good tools, uh, also earn sponsorships
by those tools.
So make sure that, you know, you're tagging those people and, and, you know, on your social
media handles and, uh, and everything else, uh, clients notice your good tools.
Uh, these companies, you should be striving to do that.
Uh, you know, uh, using good tools, make sure life very easy.
So when you have a pair of scissors, like watch, I'll show you a pair of these watch
super quick.
Let me just grab these real quick that, that, that, uh, okay, cool.
These are swivel shears.
So these have a swivel right here.
So they go like this and they're very, very comfortable for your wrist.
The agronomics behind these are, are immaculate.
These are Mizutani.
These are the D 17 swords.
They also have the Contana blade, which means that, uh, you know, that bend in the center.
Oh, TJ, what does that do?
That adds power.
And so, uh, you know, if you, you know, those are, those shears are $1,600, uh, they're
worth every penny.
Uh, I believe they're worth a lot more, but, uh, thank you for some dust for that.
Uh, here's the thing.
So good tools also help you in the long run, not develop carpal tunnel syndrome, using
the right tools.
It's just a big benefit to use the right stuff, guys.
So use the right stuff.
And so last but not least, the third secret and probably one of the most important secrets
is get your, uh, get your, uh, advertise your haircuts, get your haircuts out there, guys
have social media.
Uh, if you're not going to start a YouTube channel, which I would highly recommend that
you start a YouTube channel.
Uh, Oh, TJ, how do I get from scratch?
Start it right there with the phone, put the phone up there, do some, you don't even have
to have a microphone, do nothing.
If you have anyone ever wants to start a YouTube channel and they need help and you're in the
Albuquerque area, you could easily ask me, I'll tell you.
You know, I could do the whole thing for you.
Uh, but I would, I would, uh, I would do a YouTube channel if you don't want to do YouTube
channel.
I understand.
Uh, you should have an Instagram that way people can see your work.
So it's, it's a lot harder to say, Hey, my name's a TJ.
I cut hair.
I'm really good at cutting hair.
I can, I could do the fade.
I can do this and that.
And it's like, uh, they're like, okay.
Uh, but it's a lot better when you say, Hey, I'm Thomas Baca barber.
This is my Instagram.
They can go ahead and check it out for themselves.
If it's the right vibe and fit, then, then, then they'll jump right aboard.
And uh, you know, they can see how good your work is.
I don't really want to tell you what my work's like.
I'd rather you just see it for yourself.
If you like my work, then, um, then you come in and get a haircut.
If you don't like my work, then, uh, then you don't get a haircut.
And uh, and there's a thousand barbers out there, uh, you know, that use $30 shears that
everything else.
And so anyway, uh, guys, uh, you know, they say marketing or whatever.
You shouldn't have to beg someone to come in or, uh, or, you know, have marketing
that's trying to be that aggressively strong.
That's a red flag.
What you should do is host your work on social media.
It's a free platform, host your work on, uh, on Instagram, host your work on any
other platform that you, uh, that you like, uh, you know, I recommend hosting it on
all of them.
Uh, uh, I won't recommend tick tock on them because, uh, I don't have that app.
And I, I only don't have that app because, uh, I had a very good friend, uh, who works
for the government.
He said, don't have that app.
Anyway, long story short, uh, get your work out there.
Start a YouTube channel, start an Instagram, have people will follow you tag Albuquerque
wherever you're from tag it.
And those are three secrets to barbering guys.
If you want to know anything else or you want any other videos to be made or you want me
to just tell you anything or how to make a hundred grand a year barbering the
mathematical, uh, the mathematical version of it, uh, of how many cuts that takes per
day, what that yields to.
I could break all that down for you too.
If you want to open up your own shop and you want me to do a video like that, I'll bust
a video like that, but keep looking out.
There's going to be plenty more videos to come.
And also, uh, not to mention just plenty more videos to come, but, uh, there's going to
be a lot more haircutting to come.
So haircut videos to come tutorials, whatever you want, whatever you want to call them.
I'm going to cut hair.
You're going to see it.
I'm not going to edit the videos.
They're, they're there.
They're, they're raw and uncut.
If the client likes it, he likes it.
If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it.
Uh, nine times out of 10, they like it.
Anyway, look, this is my logo busted that on there busted that a while back.
Let me know what you guys think of that.
Hey, if anybody wants any scissors, I sell these Mizutani
scissors, uh, uh, Mizutani, New Mexico.
Uh, you could just stop into Sermon salon.
If you're in the Albuquerque area, 7710 and all Boulevard, Northeast Albuquerque,
New Mexico, uh, eight seven one one.
Oh, uh, anything you want to do.
If anyone wants to collaborate on a video, anyone wants to do anything, I'm, I'm down
for whatever, uh, you know, uh, and that's it guys.
I'm going to go in and in that video, make sure to like subscribe, look out for your
boy.
And, uh, if I can offer you anything else, uh, I would like to know, and thank you very
much for watching.
And I really appreciate you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
