The theme of the bridegroom continues in the epistles to the Galatians in the allegory of the two sons. Their mothers, Hagar and Sarah represented the Old Covenant and New Covenants.
The present evil age of chapter 1:4 corresponds to the fulness of times of Gal. 4:4 in which Christ came made under the law. The events of the book are set within the covenantal backdrop of the Jewish age.
