Presenting Christ's Bride in Marriage Ephesians 5
May 7, 2026
Ephesians 5 discusses the marriage of Christ to be consummated at his parousia. Another underlying point in the chapter is the destruction and defeat of the enemies called the principalities and powers, i.e. the rulers of the darkness of the age. The identify of these rulers tied to the Old Covenant age dominated by the powers of sin, death and Hades, all of which were operative through the law of Moses. The imagery of the wedding of Christ is implied in the allegory of the two sons of Abraham and their respective mothers.
