That's me all set up. Tarp's up. I did have a tree behind the middle there as you can probably see
so I had to get creative and just hitch it up to that a bit. I've got my snug pack bivvy just
because it's pretty windy. You can probably hear that in the background it's pretty windy out at
the moment. So yeah it's just a bit of a wind break if it changes direction and a bit of a
ground sheet in front. So that's that set up. Fire pit's going to go just behind the camera here.
Incidentally this is where Simon camped when he camped here with me. So I'm just going to go
check up on Mark and see how he's set up. I've just come over to look at Mark's shelter here.
He's got one tigress isn't it? Yes. Yeah one tigress with the underquilt and DD tarp.
Looking pretty cozy. I'm going to be snugly in there tonight. All right it's time to start
collecting up some firewood. It's very windy these last few days so it shouldn't be too hard
to find a downed tree. I'll take the saw along with me. This is the ideal sort of thing I'm
looking for. Things that just come down in the wind. So just get a few of these and some logs
from the wood store. Owls are off. Well we've processed some firewood. We thought with the
wind I mean right now it's all right but it keeps picking up and going gusty so we're just going to
put up a bit of a fire reflector where that's coming from. Get some bits from that. The wind is pretty
much non-existent now. Yeah it's because I started the camera. It's gone. I'll take the knobble off this one.
The knobble. All right so here. Yeah it is soft that ground. Let's shove the fattest one in.
A bit of a fattest one. A few more I reckon. Looks like we've got a shower blowing in.
I'm just going to take cover for a minute before we get the fire started. It's not rain it's hailing.
So we're going to let the fire as soon as this owl rolls over.
All the wood's wet now. Yeah. All the howl that just come down. It's soaking.
Keep my legs behind the fire reflector. It's so big. Nice bit of oil. Lovely.
All right here's our beef already cut. I'm just going to add in some flour and just get my messy
hands and work that in. Helps to brown it and it also helps to thicken the stew as well.
So just get that worked in. I've got that beef here. I'm just going to add that in to fry off
and lose a bit on the floor. Beautiful. This is oxtail soup which is going to help like a stock
and this is proper job. Some beer. So I'm just going to put that
on the soup tin to get the rest of that out. Let's cover that and on with the lid for well
a good hour at least. Right it's time to prep the dumplings and I've already got some suet and
flour mixed up here. I'm going to keep it in this bag and just add some water in and
just mix it in in the bag just to form them dumplings. I'm going to try and just use this
to just squeeze out some dumplings. I'm going to get one more out of this. It's like milking a cow.
It's going to be an odd number now. Chef's privilege. I might get one more out.
I've got a thing with odd numbers.
No I've ruined it. No it's going to be odd. It's odd. Oh no. You're going to have to deal with it.
It's already driving me mad. I mean there's five in there and not six. Lids on you can't see.
You forget your plate. What's that? I've got a wooden ladle. Obsessed with the wood.
Don't say that. It looks like our dumplings have risen.
So I'm just going to dish mine up and then Mark can do his. I'll do two and leave an uneven amount
in there for him so he can deal with that. Let's get some more meat. Oh yes there's some pearl barley
in here as well. I didn't film putting that in. Oh god that's beautiful. If you can't tell you've
joined us after a couple of beers after dinner. But it's okay we're all cleaned up. Yeah there's
nothing to worry about now. Just a couple of beers and a campfire.
Yeah as you can imagine first kind of social camp in a while we've been chatting away
quite a bit. It is quite bitter cold though isn't it? It is when you're away from the fire. Yeah
you just have to keep nearer. It's nice and hot now though. Yeah we haven't seen
any more hail. It's been clear skies see all the stars in the sky. Very romantic.
Romantic liaisons. Bushcraft TV. Oh and I've got I've got snacks. Ice gems? No.
I think you'll like them though. All right so this is my little surprise.
We're going to s'more it up with some marshmallows chocolate and
instead of just the normal biscuits I thought I'd get these chocolate coated ones we can get them
nice and melted too. Oh yeah. Go on dig in. Gonna put these next to the fire just get them a bit
melty. A bit melty is that a word? Oh definitely. Melty. Oh I know. All right here we go. Marshmallows.
Top. Squidge it. Oh come on. Oh look at that. Tasty.
Oh you blinded me. What are they? Isn't that better? I don't know.
We want to see you eat it. Well it's got pretty cold and uh it's past midnight now.
Mark's retired to his hammock and I'm about to get in the bivvy and yeah it's pretty chilly so
I'm looking forward to getting inside. So see you guys in the morning. It's a really nice morning.
Blue skies. No clouds. Sun's shining. Good morning all. It's uh it was a chilly night but uh
it's nice and warm inside the uh bivvy here. Slept really really well. You did too didn't you Mark?
I did. Nice and warm. Yeah just didn't wake up at all. He's got the fire going over there
for a brew and I'm motivating myself to get up.
Fire's nearly ready for some breakfast which is gonna be Mark's duty as soon as I do dinner.
Burn everything. We've got two uh frying pans. I've just bought this new Trangia
one that's got the folding handle and you can put a stick in. Don't like that.
Maybe a wider stick than this. I'm not sure I trust that stick.
Maybe a green one.
Chris in the back pan.
My breakfast. Now peasant. Oh yes. I'm looking forward to these pork and apple sausages.
They're all good. Thank you. Beans over the middle. Yep. Has to be done. My turn.
Absolutely stuffed. Oh man. That was lovely though.
Oh that's just the right amount. Oh dear. But we did clear our plates.
More or less. I've got one tiny little bit of egg and a couple of beans.
I now feel like I did after we had that stew last night.
Except we could go to bed after that. Yeah. We've got to pack up. We've got to pack up now.
I'm glad I did half of it earlier. Sun's coming out again. Sit and chill for a minute.
I don't know anything. I thank you guys for watching. Kind of a bit of highlights of the
camp video really because we've been, you know, we've just met and we've been shooting the breeze
and eating mainly. And drinking beer. Yes. Check out Mark on MGM Outdoor Adventures. I'll stick
a link below as usual. See more of his adventures. Yeah. We'll see you all again next week. Goodbye
for now. Onward.
